06 vector clutch

Do you mean a "clutch kit" or just a different primary or secondary?

The soft spring option has great reviews, available from Barn of Parts, $30. If you want a full clutch kit with weights and helix and all, your options are rather limited. Ulmer's kit is a popular choice, it is what I have and is a nice kit. Plus he is a site sponsor. Mine needed a little fine tuning out of the box but it is very easy to tune even for beginners.

CLUTCH KIT

What are you trying to gain or improve? Consensus seems to be that you'll get some 'corner to corner" and maybe some top end gains, but if you're looking for improvements like you'd see on a 2S, you aren't going to get it.

The "soft start" spring from Barn of Parts will lower your initial engagement RPM's which is a great improvement....IMO.

I will vouch for the soft start spring. Really smoothes out the abrupt engagement of the 3 cyl.

Except Travis is out of them at the moment. I just picked up an '06 Vector & ordered a spring. Got an email from him.... out of stock, but will ship ASAP.

Thanks guys, Well I just got this sled and its first time with a four stroke. I took it out over the weekend and I was pretty impress with it. but of coarse I want more power. Just any input on what I can do, for example how many studs should I run, clutch kits, exhaust, suspension, just any tips can help.

1. Studs-- you can over stud it with 144 if you chose, but I feel it's just that, overstudded. Rule of thumb, 1 per HP. So a 3-2 pattern will give you 120, right at the 1:1 Get 1.325" length. That plenty tall for trail riding. OH... and only stud in the center, not outside the rails.

2. Clutch kit-- like we've said, not really worth it. If you're Hell bent, contact Ulmer Racing. They do make a good one from what I've read. If you think a little harder pull is worth the money.

3. Exhaust-- leave it stock. You may gain a PEAK power of 3-4 HP, but lose some low end. Is that worth $500+?? Not to me.

4. Suspension-- Tooting my own horn.... look up my suspension setup. Many happy customers over the years. Problem is, the '06 (unless you have a GT, you didn't clarify) doesn't have GYTR fronts. The ER model only has preload adjustment. So therefore, a slightly above level A-arm adjustment is what you're going for on the preload.

Otherwise, you have a Mono-Shock rear, so you can set it up per my specs.

Thanks Catman, its the ER model. I've been seeing the same thing about amount of studs compared to the HP. What about ski's and carbides anything you recommend on those?

Look up Johnmaster enterprises out of Mukwonago WI.

I run his 8" dually for the stock skis. They are the widest dually on the market. I have nothing but great things to say about them. They take away 90% of darting, you'll alway get a little here n there.

I have always gotten over 3,000 miles out of a set of Johnmaster carbides. Sno-Stud is the actual brand, but you find them under Johnmaster Enterprises.

Otherwise, alot of guys here run the Sno-Trackers.

I tend to agree with CATman. I have most of the go-fast parts on my sled (header, clutching, carb springs, gearing). If I had to do it all over again I would just put on the soft spring and enjoy the sled for what it is. It is a true trail torquer. Not a lake racer.

Metallicat..... I do have a question for you....

Do you feel, or is there a difference with the softer carb springs?

I had an '06 Nytro & had considered them, but never did. Now, I just picked up an '07 Vector, and I am seriously considering them.

I noticed absolutely no difference with the Holtzman carb springs. The biggest difference came from the clutch kit. I do like it and if you want to go that route then the Ulmer kit is very nice and easy to tune. You can tune your sled to run at any rpm you want just by removing / adding tip weight. I've run mine from 8400-9100 with the stock header and I prefer the upper rpm range for best performance myself, like 8800 rpm for best top end. Second biggest difference came from the gearing change. Third the header.

Sounds about right. Marketing gimmick. Ok, maybe a .0000001 quicker throttle response.

I'll put a soft start spring in, just like my EFI Vectors, & ride it.

I picked it up for a good price, & it will be the sled my kid moves up to in a year or two.
