07 Attak Won't Start When Plugged In?

A friend bought a battery pad. Goes behind the battery and plugs in. Warmer battery = faster start. I was skeptical but it started his RX1 on the very cold mornings. Weekend before it turned over but wouldn't fire.

Mikecam,

Do you have a part number for this battery pad? Is it a Yamaha part? Also, I read that some people have placed an oil pan heater on as well. Where can I find one of these?

Sorry Kenbar, I thought I had added the link. It wasn't from Yamaha. Here it is. I'm thinking about the battery pad but the small pad that glue's on to a motor sounds cool. I thought about putting it under the oil tank to warm it. Some are only 60 watts. Interesting read anyway. Says it sticks to anything and can be applied in the cold.

I looking at both. I think the battery wamer plus an oil warmer will do the trick. Keep me posted if you know of anyone who has tried this. I thought I seen a battery warmer in an older Yamaha catalogue.

The other thing that might help is a small battery chager, such as Optimate III. Use the tendor to charge the battery for awhile on cold mornings and this should bring the battery to life.

The engine doesn't need to be HOT when you start it. Rather than leaving the heater plugged in all night (or however long you usually do it), just plug it in a few minutes before you want to start it. Just enough to take the edge off the cold.
