my 08 vector makes a clunking noise from rear suspension when driven slow over a plowed feild or areas wher snow is chunked up it almost sounds like it does it when the suspension rebounds out after compressing over the bump, doesnt do it on smooth roller type bumps, It did it last year also and it drives me crazy, I thought last year I read a post about a clunking noise that these suspensions have?

It is completely normal, drove me crazy at first now I never notice it. It is only in slow conditions where the suspension rotates and doesn't compress causes the transfer rod to expand and shorten and end with a clunk.

If you search there are many posts on this and all end with its normal.

Hope that helps

Yamaha scandinavia offer a "silencer" kit for this clunking. My local dealer did this fix on my 06 rtx last year and it made a BIG difference. It is a yamaha part and if I dont remember wrong it was called steel rubber (washer). If you want I can give you the part number on monday or tuesday.

clunk

Sniperviper, if I could get a part # from u that would be great, I will try anything to get rid of some of that noise, Thanks, roughrider

The clunking noise will be the least of your worries with the Mono. I would just learn to ingore it. If anything it tells you that the suspension is still intacked, at least to some degree.
