Ok I'm looking at used Nytros now, theres an 08 with 1200 miles on it but I'm afraid of all the ill handling issues I've heard about with them? I'd like an 09 or newer but they all have high miles or price. Can an 08 be made to handle good without breaking the bank?

If you can get a goo dprice on teh 08 get it. I've been riding one for a while now have done nothing but changed the bushings up front and the lower ball joints which are covered under Yamaha and use 6 inch dualies. Oilite bushings are about $50. The guys that notice the the poor handling must be your 1%ers. If your wondering if that might be you then your probably not. teh sled does need teh yamaheater though. Absolutely needs that.

I understand that cost with most people is a tough hurdle. If it's truly what is making or breaking the deal, I wouldn't buy a Nytro until you can afford some goodies. Dimebag has the right idea though. You ould probably get the best handeling out of the skinz kit. If you go with the 08', you will have to do one of the following.....
1. find some 09' or newer geometry ($1,600)
2. Upgrade with the Skinz or Zbroz kit ($1,600-$2,000)
3. Buy a 09' or newer Nytro (Extra $1,500+)

That doesn't include some other things you're going to want.....

1. Yamaheater - because the stock hand warmers suck
2. OFT relocator kit - because the stock steering angle sucks

Hope this helps.
Good Luck RobWarrior ;)!

I put C&A's on, Ulmer oilite bushings, did the ball joint mod and my sled handles great...no regrets buying it at all...next step will either be a Skinz front end or the Star Suspension 128 relocate...both apparently change the handling characteristics for the better from what I've read.

Thanks for the help guys, normally the $ wouldn't be an issue but I've had a could jobs fall through for this fall so I'll have to go used...Just can't justify a new sled at this time. I'll hold out for an 09 and throw another $800 at it.

I love my 08! Get Ulmer Bushings, Ski's, and yamaheaters before you ride. Then do the Star 128 kit and shock revalve.

All I did was changing the skis and oft relocator. Enough to fall in love with the 08. BTW, I might be the only one but my grips are hot.

Got the 08 and 09 and love them both. Do some of the mentioned above and you will have the best reliable and fast/fun sled out there. Are you sure the 1200 miles is accurate? That thing should look new!
:yam:

Having a hard time getting the guy to call me back on that one...going to look at an 09 with 3300 miles asking $5500 and an 08 with 4500 miles asking $4600?
Any thoughts on the milage?

Thanks

If it's an S.E. than go with the 09'. If its the RTX (non- S.E.), than still not a bad deal but youll want to look it over.

On the 08 with 1200 miles, if this is accurate, that is a new sled in my mind as long as the rest of it looks new as well. Some times these guys buy new or newer speedometer clusters to make it look like it has low miles. Either way these motors are bullet proof and can handle the high miles. Good luck with your Nytro shopping, they are a riot!!

Yeah I was a little concerned about the old speedo cluster swap. I'll shop around still plenty of time before the snow flies.
