09 front clip

It appears the 2009s have a plate welded to the bottom to stiffen the front clip. Has anyone heard if they are available yet for the 2008s that were weak?

I had a my second front clip welded with a plate there and 2 strips on the top part just above the bottom plate and it still got tweaked a little, I think the weak part is on the bend where the rivets for the rubber boots are located.

Yep that's where they bend. Yamaha couldn't have picked a worse place to drill that hole.

Now that I see what the 09's looks like that might just do it (lower bracket on those bends), wish I would have caught that a little sooner. I think I've bend my 2nd a little already, but I'm installing a new TS Barkbuster front end soon, just waiting on Ulmer's to finish up their new bushings for it. I want to see if the new stuff fixes the little offset I have now or is it time for a new clip again, which will piss me off being have to take out most of my turbo setup. Part of me wants to get the chromoly one from Diamond S makes, it's pricey but I know it a tough piece to make for sure.

I'm still waiting to see what's going to happen with mine and the dealer etc, but one way or the other it'll have to be replaced. The new one is getting some kind of extra reinforcment because I don't care what anybody says the 08 design is weak.

The good news is that when you buy a new one, you get the reinforced 09 subframe for your 08.
