Didn't get any warranty - not exactly a shocker as it is an 09. This is basically what I got as a responce, "[t]he sheaves are considered wearable parts and not warrantied for any reason beyond the warranty period."
They are even excluded in the extended warranty as well. Like you said they are considered "wear" components, even though I have never seen one wear out!
Had two 97 sx 700's that cracked sheaves due to heat from belt slippage, one was highly modded and mechanic said no but dealer said he would see what he could do. Both were replaced free of charge. I think a lot of coverage has to do with the dealers opinion and what he tells Yamaha. Best of luck hope they take care of you.
