I know it has been discussed to death (as I've read pretty much every post) with varing opinions but I still have one question,

All things being equal, (# of studs, snow conditions, temp, etc) is the 1.25" predator the same as a ripsaw on top end or is the predator faster?

either one wont be that fast of a track compared to a 1" track....

but with those both being 1.25 ,id say the predator(carve) is going to be the faster track as its a harder durometer rubber and stiffer fingers/lugs....should make more top end.

BTW since you are in Barrie, you would benefit from buying a new track down here,my dealer has predators for $339,noone can touch that price....im sure he has 1.25 ripsaws too,not sure about 1.25 predator though....hes getting me a new hacksaw 14"x1" for a decent price.

Thanks Dan...

And with that info I guess I will be going with a 1" predator. Speed is the most important thing to me and since I do have the 136, traction with proper studding should be more than adequate. 90% of my riding is high speed trail and wot lake runs. Very rarely do I try to get around in deep powder.

What is the name of your dealer? Do you know if your dealer will be at the show in Toronto this weekend?

i just put 1.25 predator on my 2006 apex gt. my ripsaw lost a stud and damaged the front heat exchanger . all ready for this year predator look like a better track

I have run a 1" predator on my apex since new(swapped it out before first ride)

I was considering trying a 14" hacksaw this season as im ready for a new track but the more i read and also talked to someone at camoplast,im thinking of sticking to my predator(now known as CARVE).

the hack has softer lugs, not nearly as durable in the long run as the carve is,which has harder lugs.

ive heard the predator/carve is same top speeds at the 14" hack and the hack is 5 lbs lighter....

Don Georges down here in WNY area is my dealer,he has predators at a great cost....ill probably get another from him around $339. http://www.dongeorge.com/

If you head down this way,let me know...ill show you where he is...also,if you ride in muskoka let me know...i usually have the radar gun out on mary lake.

BTW i will be at the toronto show Friday afternoon/eve...don georges does not come to canadian show...but he does sell a ton of sleds to canuks, saving alot!

Dan

Dan, I will be at the sled show on Friday at about 230pm.
See you there.

Now, as for the 14" track...mine is splitting. Splitting the surface the outside wheels ride on. The wheels are peaning the white bar inside the track. The center of the wheels ride over the tip of the white bar.

I lost a stud last ride of the year on my ripsaw (Mid April) and also put it through the front heat exchanger. Wasn't too happy, it was the first time I have ever lost one.

Thanks for the info on the dealer, I will certainly let you know if I go down that way to pick up a track.

I will be at the show on Friday as well.
