My Tcat's distant brother with same motor, pipes, track, studs, etc...couldn't run with me in the radarruns...he had 10 tooth drivers...tried all the gears...still slower in 2000 feet.
Like Knapp says, unless you are on asphalt, it's a waste of time.....

You will have gear down with a stocker or u wont have the power to pull it.mnmsnowbeast said:Mike i would not do it on the ripsaw 1.25 track either,as i stated in my opening statement i will do it when i go to the 9837 1" preditor track, than there will be no problem with anything hitting..KnappAttack said:I would NOT put in bigger drivers fellas! The track already hits the protectors hard! The efficency gain is not there as you think. Been there, done that. If you were running an asphalt track at 140 mph yes, but not for the trail, or lower speeds, (140 or less). Mike Knapp#17

snowbeast,Even with the 1 inch track and the 10 tooth drivers you are still going to be closer to the heat exchanger protectors than the ripsaw is with the 9tooth drivers.(.15 TO BE EXACT)The 9 tooth ones are 7.2 inches in diameter where the 10 tooth ones are 8 inches in diameter.Take the radius of each and you can see that it is more than the .25 difference between the two tracks. This is assuming the tracks have the same belt thickness.
Boy I love this site we are all helping each other with tips to make our yamahas faster and more rideable than the competition. Also it is nice to have the experts like Mike Knapp help us when we have a question.

I can tell you that in 660 on ice the sled will slow slightly even compensating for gearing differance with the larger drives. There are other efficencys that come into play here that deal with final drive results. Large drives only for above 140 mph speeds!

byoffcr said:Nope the 04 roadstar 1700cc i have had 3 hogs over the years, all to darn pricy for my blood now, besides i think yammi has done a nice job copying the hog motor and chassie set up,my last 89 flstc heritage was nice but the design of the swingarm would cause you to bottom out and move the rear tire out from under you while driving thru a turn and going over a bump at the same time while having a passenger on board. That is not very inspiring when crusinig, plus the motor on the big inch has more snot than my old 80 inch or even the new 88 twin cams out..mnmsnowbeast said:Ya 102 inch scooter lol hope the weather is as warm as it has been in jan and feb. if it is i should be able to ride in shorts lol what a piss poor winter ha.. ya i think i will heed the advise on the 10 tooth drivers and i have the fix air box lid, just need cold and snow something we never had this winter,oh well maybe i can try it this summer,it is bound to be colder this summer sense i just bought a bike he he later trevor..170plus said:thanks for the input guys........with a guy like Mike Knapp saying its a waste of time unless running over 140 i think i'll listen and put the money i would spend on those drivers into a new air intake system for my 98 c5 because i know that will run over 140(170plus actually) and thats a four stroke too.....thanks for the info Mike....hey beast ,your coming up on april 1st,John will have a scooter waiting for you instead of a big bike for april fools day lmao![]()

10 tooth
i hqve tested 10 tooth drivers on the rx 1,s two rx 1 ,s side by side testing fot one whole seeson. the one with ten tooth (mine) and one wiith 9 tooth. we found that the mine was much faster and would even pull better speeds in fresh snow like two ft deep. track angle was reduced by 3 deg angd the speedo was right on with the radar as well with the stk speedo gear. but by far the bigest differnce was in the snow it would pull much better and a higher top speed in snow. i coulnd braek tril at 70 mph all day and still had more on tap. i could play with the rev 800 ho at cruse for me he would have to run flat out. i could pass him pull in front pull off let him pass then pull along side cruse then pass him on the other side. played with him for over 30 miles like this and never ran at full trottale once
