Unfortunately, i was only able to ride one time last season. I had done the oil change before i put about 100 miles on, brought it home, washed and cleaned, and then it went back into storage. SAD, i know. Sat all spring, summer, fall, and now i'm just getting it out for the first time this season. Again, SAD, i know. Here's my question: Do i need to change the oil? Yamaha recommends changing the every 2500 miles or at the start of a new season. I cracked the drain plug and let it drip onto a white rag just to see what it looked like. Clean, like I had just changed it. Again , this oil only has 100 miles on it, but it has been sitting for about 10 months. Very torn on what to do before I ride next weekend. I'm very picky with my sled and maintenance, so this is a tough question to answer. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Most will say change it, but would it be fine running it the way it is, almost certainly. Your call. A lot depends on storage and climate while sled sits.

Warm it up and change it (cheap insurance).

There are guys who change their oil in the spring, and there are those who change it in the fall. Just consider yours a spring oil change and ride it!

I would only be concerned if it was in a place with lots of temperature swings creating condensation. Then it may get some water in the oil. If it was stored in a garage that was heated during the spring and fall , or the temperature from spring to summer to fall was a gradual cool to warm and back to cool, I would not worry about it. You will know if there is water in your oil, it will look milky.
Ours sit in the heated garage after every ride and are stored in the garage year round and I only change oil every second season.
