Hello,
I was wondering if there is any way to get 100 MPH (or close to) out of a phazer without a turbo or supercharger? Does anyone make cams for these machines yet? I was wondering with exhaust, clutch, intake, cams, and a power commander (or whatever is needed to get the fuel delivery correct), would it be possible to get close to 100 MPH on hard pack snow?
Thanks,
Tom

It's still only a 500 cc, not a 750 cc. To get more than 200 hp per litre out of a N.A. twin is a hell of a performance job...

I have seen 99mph on the spedo on glare ice. In the real world the best you will ever see on radar will be about 90 on ice and +/-82 on snow (stock). You MIGHT be able to gain 5-8 hp with exaust and intake mods and perhaps another 2 hp with custom cam degree job. Now consider that your clutches are at best 80% efficent and you might get an additional 6 to 8 hp to the track. I bet all this wont gain tou more than 2-3 mph on the top end.
My advice, keep it mostly stock and ride it OR open your wallet and turbo or super charge it

u cant get anymore speed with out changing rpms or gearing. if its running at max hp rpm which is like 11500 with the FX/rtx gearing wich is 18/40 ur max speed 84 with 19/40 is 88, 20/40 is 93. those numbers are therotical top speed. doesnt take into consideration belt or track slip and other factors. u would need a 21/39 gearing to hit 100mph with a target rpm of 11500. either that or over rev to 14,000 with stock gearing. seeing how at that RPM ur motor has a 99% chance of granadeing i would recommend it.
always remember more HP does not = more MPH, u only get there faster. this is a huge misconception that most people have. Oh i added a pipe and stuff i have 15 extra hp but im not goin any faster im goin slower on top speed. well if have 115 hp at 8600 rpms and put pipes on(2 stroke) and get 135 hp but that make that at 8100 rpms and u dont change ur gearing ur goin to go slower on top end.

Aerodynamics are at play here also.I think it could be done but it would be a big project.Think about it in simple form we have about 80hp to go 80mph 100mph you would need 1/4 more power minimum.25%.Thats a tall order for motor mods but its possible Yamaha overlooked something.Porting, exhaust, highcompression pistons, cams and cam timing,Ignition timing Maxed out, clutching and gearing. You will end up running on race gas and probably a very peaky motor thats much harder to clutch than ours is.No more low end.Personally I would try to put a Nytro motor in our chassis. But everything you learn along the way would be helpful to all of us just looking for a little increase.
