at 7000kms im tearing the chaincase apart and redoing all the bearings, likely going to upgrade the track while im doing it. We ride lots of trails but tend to mess around off trail a lot lately and the ripsaw is killing me.

So what is a good track...im thinking 1.75, but the 1.6 cobra ice is nice looking too.

What gearing for a stock engine would you suggest...i may do power commander and muffler this year.

Advice would be great thanks guys

I run 21-41 gearing in mine but I have the hurricane 190 kit in mine. That being said, these sleds are geared really low to begin with, so if you do power upgrades like the PCV and exhaust I don't think you will suffer at all. The nice part with the 21-41 is that (correct me if I'm wrong) the viper xtx uses this gearing stock so you can call up Brian's in Hensall and order the gears and chain and be done quick cheap. It was a bit north of 100 bucks if I remember correctly.
On the other hand, if you are looking to get a bigger lugged track you might want to leave the gearing alone. I just run the stock 1.25 on mine. I know over on Arctic chat that caltrax guy has an extensive thread on the mods to his. He ran a bigger paddle as well as a PCV and exhaust. I can't remember exactly what he ran for gears but it wasn't as tall as 21-41

i have the 1.7 on my 129 and i love it i have the low 21/49 gearing and top speed is only 144 at best conditions but very fun on the bottom

not looking for top end...140s are good for me, im not a top speed guy not where we ride...what im looking for is hook up, and off trail play. Still trail ride, id also like to lift the skis off trail, right now it just spins and digs.

plan is to replace, chaincase bearings...drive shaft, jack shaft...new sliders, idler bearings. Anything else i should do when its apart?

anyone know a good shock combo for the rear?....stock ones dont ride as nice as id like and i feel they are wore out.

I can revalve your rear shocks. Plusher, better transfer, awesome in big stuff too.

thanks cannondale..do you rebuild floats too? i want to get the front freshened up just to be safe.....the rears i think im going to order new ones, i noticed at the last couple rides it wasnt dampening like they use to...not sure if it got damaged or not...so you think i should buy new stock ones and send them to you?

Don't buy new stock ones. Unless they are broken as in a hole or shaft ripped right out they are repairable for only a few dollars more than a revalve job. Now if upgrading to Axis,Fox or others with clickers I can understand that. But revalved stockers are darn good. Yes I can refresh the floats no problem. $30 for refresh and $80 for revalve.

I can vouch for cannondale's rear shock setup that it works great, big bump capable, plush on small choppy stuff and you literally feel nothing on the trail chatter. Best money you'll ever spend on your viper!!

good to hear...went to the 2016 track shock spring for sure made it little better...but revalve for sure is what i need. Cant wait to get it all tore apart
