137 Ltx se or xtx 141 please help

Guys picking up a new 2017 sidewinder next week trying to decide on the right model I'm looking for the plushes ride I have a bad back, my thoughts was on the 137 se. I currently have a 2014 viper ltx hate the ride very very stiff for my weight I also has a 2014 zr 9000 129 much softer I sure hope the winder 137 is not as rough

Here is a related thread which may help. I interpret it that the 137 will ride nicer. I ordered a 18 LTX LE and am having the rear torsion spring swapped out. That is supposed to soften up the rear for a rider less than 200 lbs.

Springs and shocks will make all the difference in the world. If you can find an LE model you will have the best stock shocks available from Fox. As stated above, softer rear springs may be in order. I tip the scales at 220 lbs (plus gear) so I will not be starting off with different rear torsion springs.

If you cannot find an LE you may want to consider swapping out the skid shocks for something like Axis from Hygear. They also have a lighter spring if you desire.

I would stay away from the Fox floats on the 141 XTX. They will ride harsh compared to any coil over shock.

agree...until you get to the mega expensive stuff...not a fan of floats...especially yamaha valved...

Thanks a million guys just bought a 137 ltx se I am at 200 ish fully dressed I hope they are not as stiff as my viper ltx I haven't sat on the winder yet but I just hope it sags in the rear my viper don't

My '14 Vipe LTX was the worst riding snowmobile I have ever ridden!!! I revalved both track shocks, and installed lighter torsion springs along with a dual rate Cat FTS. It really helped with the ride quality. I sure hope Yamaha has fixed this since 2014!

I couldn't agree more the viper ride quality sucks,, I have to get the viper shocks and springs done it's a must.
Next question do you guys out there think I should do the sidewinders shocks before the season starts to get it done before the snow flys. Are they stiff like the vipers thanks.....

Ride it. The 14 and 15 Viper valving was way off and springs were stiffer. 16 and up in Vipers and Sidewinder is much better stock even in the base shocks.

I know this thread is from forever ago but I'm looking to pickup a 15 Viper and been hearing about the stiffness. When you mention springs, are you referring to the torsion springs. Apparently Hygear makes them based on your riding weight. Is that what I need? Thanks!

Yes, 14 and 15 MY's came stock with some stiff torsion springs. Good for a guy 240/250 (maybe more) in street clothes. If I were you I would call John @ Accelerated Technologies. He is so much more knowledgeable than anyone at Hygear.
