105 miles powder snow ice underneath, ungroomed to groomed trails long stretches of plowed roads. No studs 1.6 track . Starting temp was 5 and finished the day at about 25

Starting at the front:

The steering was heavy but I can adjust that when I get to the back. As with my 07 for I found that I can set the front end with the engine brake in the turns and then power out this was with stock skis and stock carbides. Because it was low snow conditions it did not put on the 6" slim Jim doolys

The motor was awesome original flash idles around 1500. I always turned the key straight to cranking till it was running zero issues air intake was about 60 all day. When we got on plowed roads I just dropped the scratchers with and without the scratchers motor temp stayed around 160. Only time it was higher was when I didn't put the scratchers down.

BOP soft start primary spring. I love it. OSP belt adjuster awesome I set the deflection in the garage when I put it on with the 8dn belt with the cogs about a sixteenth above the secondary. With that I got 8934 rpms out of the motor. This is the only thing I have done to the clutches. There was to many water bars and washouts to try a top speed.

I put in a Zbros 160lb center shock spring and it is currently snug, I think I will crank it up a half inch and that should fix the heavy steering. I also have the hygear progressive linkage installed with the shock chamber. I believe they are set at 150 and 225. It was harsh on the faces on the water bars at speed, but I was able to power through wooped out sections with confidence.

It seems with a 4th wheel kit keeps the saddlebags stay pretty dry because there was a lot of snow dust/powder

I did all this work to my sled by just reading what others have done to theirs and having never riding this model. Thanks everyone. I have a permagrin going.

I do have 2 questions though. Why would I put in the spacers on the primary spring? And what do I do to remove the harsh hits? With current shocks, I am done spending gas money

Spacer On the primary spring bump up the rpms. Stingray can elaborate on that better harsh hits you referring to under the saddle or out front? I had mine skid shocks revalved. Tried lightest adjustments and didn't help after revalved both shocks sled rides way better. Front shocks I run around 65/70. Your xtx doesn't that have air shock underneath ? Not sure on that settings.

Under the saddle on the harsh hits. I have 65 in the front a little soft for yesterday but I think once the trails are good I will be too. To old and fat for jumping anymore. Lol

Where there is snow. I hope

Xtx I am not familiar with settings. Someone will chime in and get ya figured out. Do you have torsion adjustments. Have mine set on 1.i Remeber reading 120 in the rear shock on your skid. It's is new and needs to be broke in more. Keep riding someone will help ya out on here

141 is uncoulped so no torsion Springs .

Great write up. I also have a 14 xtx and Stingray helped me dial mine in. You might send him a PM. I have 160 pound spring and I had too much preload and too much pressure in shocks. My heavy steering issues are solved now. I wish I was riding today but I have to work this weekend.
