Besides the shocks are the rear skids on the RTX Le the same for the 15t n the 16? So basically if I went n upgraded it to the Qs3 Fox shocks in the back would a 15 ride just as good as the 16 or is the 16 worth the extra $1,500 that it would cost over the 15? I am asking for a friend, he is looking at getting a Sidewinder but his dealer has a brand new RTX Le 2015 that he would give to him for 10,150 otd So he was thinking about buying that and then throwing axis pro shocks in the front and then the fox qs3 shocks in the rear and then like $1,500-2000k in performance to get him around 150 horsepower and he would still be like 3k cheaper than a sidewinder. I know that that shock setup would be like 2700 for the front and the rears, but his dealer said he would buy the stock shocks and give him a total of 1800 for the two rears and the two fronts so that would help offset the cost a little bit. I told him that setup would make one hell of a rough trail sled and in 660 feet you would be hard to beat. To me that sounds like a good idea because it's going to save him a few grand and it would be a better Trail sled in The Sidewinder as well, what is your guyses take on this so I can let him know what you guys think. He specifically asked me to ask you guys because he knows you guys know your stuff

Why not the QS3 in the front as well? I love mine!! Should be cheaper than the Axis and easier to dial in??

They are only a couple hundred dollars cheaper, maybe 3 at the most and for that price we both agreed to go with a better shock

Rtx has a longer front arm and center shock in 17. Ride/valving not sure. 16 valving in ltx is softer. Le is rr skid

you mean longer arm in the 16 verse 15? He is going to be changing the stock shocks in the skid but he wants to make sure that the 16 is not worth the extra $1,500 just by the off-chance the 16 skid is a much better design then the 15 skid. So basically it's a 2015 skid with Fox Qs3 shocks and extra 1500 dollars in my pocket versus a 16 with the same setup but it's going to cost 1500 more then the 15

15 and 16 skids are same.

Between shocks and performance parts sounds like you're planning to spend $3500-$4000 right off the bat on top of the cost of the sled. So with you're prices listed you'll have a mildly upgraded viper for $14k, why not snowcheck a sidewinder with the shocks that you want and have the latest and greatest for maybe an extra $1000? I can tell you without a doubt that even in short 1/8th mile racing a mildly tuned viper isn't gonna be close to a sidewinder.

All together yes about 4 grand except the dealer is giving me $1,800 for my stock suspension that he will resale. So I'm looking at around 2 Grand in upgrades and I will have the best suspension money can buy and the round 150 horsepower for 12100 otd for the snowmobile and all of the aftermarket parts. So it is not $1,000 extra for a sidewinder it is more like $4,000 extra

Gotcha didn't quite understand the $1800 you'd be getting back. The viper is awesome, I'm 100% pleased with mine with cheap basic suspension, if you have the time and knowledge to dial and tune the high end shocks I'm sure it'll be even better. Mods are mods and I think when it comes to the viper the different setups are all gonna basically get u the same gains, just don't beat any money on beating a sidewinder in a drag race lol.

And don't forget the RTX LE Viper used to be a sno cross sled. Don't expect over 80 mph on good day but it will be unreal acceleration up to that. Track also wears quick under trail use.

Another important thing to check is whether the 16 has the 16 or 16.5 motor.

No more opinions

I just dont see someone who is looking at a Sidewinder and a 15,16 RTX LE as being the same person! Totally different sleds. The speed a Sidewinder will have is waay more than the 15/16 RTX LE which was never designed to even have decent trail speeds. The Viper LE was a SnoX sled/ditchbanger. Many were very disappointed in the speed of it trail riding. Sidewinder is going to be opposite. Will be fast enough on trail to put fear into anyone.
