16-17 Rear Shock Info

We've got about 250 miles on the new shock now. Installed on my wife's 2016 Apex XTX 1.25. With the original shock, she was constantly being bounced off of the seat and butt slapped on anything but smooth trails. She was very disappointed in the sled. With the new shock, PSI set to her riding weight, 160, and not yet messing around with the clickers, she is is highly pleased with the improvement. Said it is riding better than her 2009 LTX-GT with the electric Ohlin which she loved and rode for 10K miles. I now need to stiffen up the front shocks as we had softened them up with the collars as loose, soft as possible, now the front is too soft. If we can find some decent trails (snow) we will start fine tuning with the clickers. If things continue in this directest, this updated shock is a big improvement.
thanks for the new shock upgrade info, this new shock upgrade seems to solve the harsh ride with the 16-17 apex which is good news, I hope the upgrade holds up for years of enjoyment.

I had a chance to ride the sled with the new shock, put 206 miles on it this weekend. IT IS AWSOME the ride was night and day. Rider confidence is awesome also. I figure I am at least 280 with snowmobile suit and helmet. I rode from hard pack with stutter pumps to soft snow with 2 to 3 foot moguls. When sled bottomed out it did it with grace is the only way I can describe it. Before my teeth would chatter I love the shock. I have it set at 290 PSI, compression set at 5 clicks from closed and the rebound 8 clicks from closed. I have 3" sag at rear bumper with street cloths and jacket.
I adjusted the shock the first time when I put the shock in and it is good to go. Also my ride height is higher.:jump:

Great to hear! Any difference in weight transfer (as compared to the old shock?)

No not really on the hard pack I can pull the skis and hear them slap the ice I never heard that before. But I could pull the skis before on hard pack so hard to tell.
Sounds like you're getting good transfer. I can't seem to pull the skis on my 16 XTX.

how do you set the psi on that shock? the one my dealer gave me does not have an air valve on it

Should be 2. One directly on bottom of the Evol is for the Evol(bottoming) one at top where Evol is attached to main shock is for the Main Chamber(ride height)
Sorry just one air valve compression reservoir is field with Nitrogen the air valve is on the big reservoir at the top and is a typical fox cap silver in color. One major thing is that on my shock the sticker for the nitrogen was placed around the air valve. It was suppose to go on the bottom of the compression reservoir. I called fox and they sent me the set up direction and confirmed the that they new the sticker was in the wrong spot but they didn't tell anyone either.

I have also realized that the instruction posted here is different then the one fox sent me that were done by Yamaha according to Fox. My shock came with no instruction at all.

Yeah. Theres instructions online. There is only one air valve. You set the psi to your weight according to their chart (online). Then you set the sled on the ground, with rider sitting on it, and measure the shock body length. Adjust accordingly. I have the instructions on my laptop at home. I can post them after i get outta work.
