Picked up a used winder with 1300 miles. Got little to no background information from the seller. The dash lights up no different than my stock Viper, so im assuming there is no tune? It was a little rough (mostly cosmetic) when I picked it up, i'm working on getting it near perfect.
Items I've already addressed
- Belly pan PTO side under the clutches was blown out, belt material everywhere. Looked like a high speed/high rpm blown belt. I replaced the belly pan and ordered the BOP protector.
-White side panels dirty and don't come clean, including instrument panel (shroud around the gas cap)
I replaced them all with blue panels from 2018 model.
-Seller claimed 2" paddle track, upon further inspection its a 137 x 15 x 1.75" camoplast cross country. I ride mostly groomed trails so I'm thinking about going with a 1.25 ripsaw II or a 1.375 cobra.
aftermarket items that were included
-Airbox delete, has ALPHA hoses and K&N filter w/ prefilter
-MBRP can, its loud. Stock muffler was also included
-C&A pro Skis, have stock skis w/ 0 miles and new carbides
-goggle bag, and large Yamaha tunnel bag
From reading posts on this forum I'm concerned with the primary clutch and the chaincase. From what I can tell the clutch springs are stock in both clutches and there does not seem to be any wear or flat spots on the weights.
Can anyone recommend a dealer in Michigan that knows sidewinders well? I would probably take it to have my track swapped. That alone would make me more comfortable with the chaincase holding up, assuming they would have it all apart and properly replaced. Also they could perform a diagnostic to see if it has been flashed.

It would run lean with a CAI and exhaust. It either had a tune, has a tune or has or had a fuel controller on it.

Hackers at Houghton Lake seems to be a good shop.

I would recommend running the track it came with for this winter and then decide. I have a 137 1.75" track and ride mostly groomed trails in the UP and LOVE the track... It's awesome!
