Hi guys I am new to this forum I am at a loss with this new machine. Anyways my question is in regards to the monoshock bottoming out all the time. I have my clip in the number three position, cam adjuster maxed out, compression adjustment maxed out. I ride pretty hard weigh 215 without gear. I am to the point of wanting to sell this machine and go back to polaris. My 2003 edge will eat this machine alive in regards to suspension.
PLEASE help I don't want to have to get rid of it I like the power and mileage. How do I know if my shock is good or not?
I really appreciate the info
We already have almost two feet of powder up here in northern manitoba

Did you ride it last year while it was new,i have the rtx and er plus a 600xcsp edge 01 and the edge rides good and takes big bumps better,in no way does it take the stutters anywhere as good,so either your shock is spent,or you have the apex gt which had many more problems than the ra adjuster had,now take it out and send it to pioneer performance to have it revalved and the 6.5 spring installed, bruce will do a great job,as long as you indicate to him how you ride, also where does your transfer rod pos. at,do you have transfer,or have you taken it all out, what type of skags are you running and do you still have stock skis on,he has differant ski shock springs you can get,if you have stock shocks on.

I sent my shock to bruce a pioneer performance as well for the heavy spring and revalve,I weigh 205.We got some snow a few days ago and ive put 125 miles on it so far.The snows not deep enogh yet to get moguls but I went out to a trail thats whooped out from quads and blasted down through them with ra set towards middle and went through them great.
It works so much better I even took it out on my motocross track in my back yard and did a few of the easier jumps with it ,40 footers. It still feels good in the smaller bumps as well,it just firms up much quicker than the factory setup which is exactly what it needed.
The only complaint is that it was sent back to me with the c clip in the second groove and I couldnt even get half of the sag that bruce recomends so i had to move it back to the first clip position 1 and Im allmost to the recomended sag.

Have you looked into the big boy spring? If you search this forum you will find threads from lots of guys that replaced the stock spring with the big boy spring to eliminate or significantly reduce bottoming.

Sounds to me like your shock is spent. My 05 RX1 along with a couple of others were low on pressure when they were brand new. A quick recharge made a noticable difference. I then sent it to Pioneer Performance for a revalve, it's way better now

I got some more time on the pioneer revalve and heavier spring today.I have 16 years of experience racing quads on motocross tracks and I have a good idea of what works and what dont.
All I have to say is yamaha should get ahold of bruce and see what hes doing and put it on every sled they sell
No trade offs that I can see, plush on small bumps and laughs at medium bumps.Ive yet to touch the RA its set at couple of clicks softer than half way.I havent found any of the realy nasty stuff yet(the trails that are so bad that it makes you wonder why you even ride a sled)but from what ive seen so far ill be very happy.
