2007/08 Newberry Trail Conditions

Thanks guys, unless they start calling for rain, I'll be heading up on Sunday with my wife. She has never been to the UP.

Well nothing like rain in the short term, more snow (possibly wet and heavy) called for tonight but if anything that will just add to the snow amounts already on the ground. There were quite a few sleds out this weekend, so my group stayed off the main trails and instead stuck to the old logging trails and such. Man there is still an unbelieveable amount of snow out there. 'Course the past few winters have been pretty lackluster so I guess that makes this winter shine that much more. Get out and play while you still can!

Stu, a buddy and I are coming up tomorrow and I've been reading like crazy on all web sites and undergroundweather.com , ect. that the temp is right at freezing. Is it raining up there today? Tonight and mainly tomorrow you guys are supposed to get some snow....

I hope the trails will hold up!

Thanks for the info.

No rain, but about 2"-4" of heavy snow! Looks like we could be in for one last good week of riding (well with the trails open and groomed anyway). It's supposed to cool back down for the rest of this week so this snow should stick. The warmer temps should soften the icy trails and allow for the groomers to smooth them out one last time. Take care.

Lot's of snow over here, and the snow hanging around isn't the problem, it's when it's frozen. Here's to hoping you don't have to change your hyfax for another week ;) But we got about 6" today and the temps are IDEAL for a great ride after work.

Well if anyone hasn't heard yet...TRAIL GROOMING IN THE U.P. HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO APRIL 6!!! At that time the DNR will revaluate snow conditions to see if they will extend again or not. There's still plenty of snow out there! Better get out and take advantage!

Just got back from Seeney/Curtis area. It was awesome!! Snowdog and I did 375 miles on Wednesday and 150 on Thursday before heading back home. We would have hit the 400 mark on Wednesday but we had to break in our new Apex's. After the 300 mark-game on...... It was a short trip, but well worth it!

Glad you had a good time DUNDEE!! This season we have definitely been blessed with the snow! The snow should hang on for one more good weekend. After that, with the rising temps the snow's probably gunna go pretty fast. Have to just wait and see and ride while I still can!

Stu how are things looking? Is it going to be worth the drive tomorrow to come sledding for the day? I would like to leave from the St. Ignace trail head and head north.

Sorry I wasn't able to get back to you mdkuni, I had a very busy weekend helping on the farm with the big cattle move and such. The snow shouldn't have been too bad on Saturday (4/5) but its pretty safe to say that the season is over now for this year in the Newberry Area. See you all next winter!
