I have a 07' Attak GT. I recently bought a set of cable style ice scratchers. I have read almost every article on here regarding scratchers and still have questions. I want to mount them on the rail and the only logical location is where the 3 pieces meet. Does anyone have a picture on where they have mounted them on their 136" track. Is it ok to drill next to the bolt holding these 3 sections together? How far back has someone installed these and they still work? Thanks!

Here are the two locations that I was originally thinking about. The blue location may be too far forward and there is no place to hook them up if i don't need them. The red location is where the 3 pieces of rail are bolted together. I was hoping to only drill through 1 piece of rail. Also, I don't want to remove any wheels. Thanks!

the red is the general area where people mount them. have you looked into the ski mounts people are doing?

Yes I made the brackets and eye hooks for non use.
Enlarge pic you'll see eye hooks behind spindle.

What originally got me started on this... Last week I rode for 5-6 hours with no over heating issues. On the final drag back to the truck, a 4-5 mile stretch at high speed the yellow light came on. Trails were hard packed snow, not really any powder. I'm running a non studded track also. I pulled over threw some snow on the runners and 10 min late I was fine. Back a couple months ago when I was installing a new battery I unhooked a coolant line by accident and did notice it was very green. By reading some other articles I am hoping that my sled came with "100% antifreeze" and after I dilute it 60/40 I might not have the problem. Plan is to do the coolant change this weekend and install the scratchers either ski or rail mount. Side note: I did read about the rear cooler but the dealer told me it would be a waste of money and it was not needed. For some reason I am still sold on the idea of adding the rear cooler, maybe in the off season.

If your running non studed. I would put in the rear heat exchanger and thin out the anti freeze to 60/40%. If you decide to stud you'll need more than the stock protection at the heat exchanger.

I put my scratchers where the red circle was. Just open up the hole a little and run the bolt thru.

So you drilled through the 3 layers of rail and it was alright? I was hoping someone had chose this location. Did you need to get a longer bolt?

Yes, I opened the hole just a little and used a longer bolt. Not much longer.

Awesome! Do you also have cable style? Did you have previous overheating issues and the scratchers solved them?
I appreciate the feedback. I am hoping to not have to install a rear cooler until the off season if I had to.
