2008 Vector won't turn over

The carb'd vector motors can be stubborn starting after they sit for awhile. Best thing to do when starting them up after month long storage is pop air box lid off and spray starting fluid into the intake boots while cranking. This will get it running much quicker and reduce the strain long cranks put on starter. I'm convinced the hard cranking after summer start ups is what prematurely kills vector starters.

As for your problem on hand its likely the solenoid or starter. Using a test light or meter check for voltage right on the starter post where cable attaches. If you turn key and you get voltage there then the relay is working and you have bad starter or bad connection at the starter. Ensure the nut is tight. You will have to access the starter through the belly pan access panel.

I don't recommend starting fluid. I use a small spray bottle full of gas and mist it in the carb openings. The dash lights won't come on because they are powered through a load control relay that only energizes after engine is running. If it won't crank over and the battery has sufficient charge you can jump across the starter relay to determine if the starter is working.

X2 on not using starting fluid
