I am new to the forum and was looking for advice. I bought my son a 2008 Phazer RTX with a 1" lug ... he wants to play in deeper powder and follow me (2008 Nytro 153" MTX). I have a few ideas floating around in my head as to what conversion to go with. I don't want him to loose a lot of power in the bottom end. I am concerned that the 500cc can't handle much of a change but please prove me wrong!
Idea 1 ... track change only to 1 1.5" lug
Idea 2 ... rail extension and track change to 128" with 1.5" lug. The only track available is 13.5 inches wide. Or I cut down a 15" to the phazer 14" wide. I like this option
Idea 3 ... prefered BUT lots of concern. I would go to a 1.5" lug and do a simple rail extension to 136". What do I need for a tunnel extension? do I have to change the secondary clutch and weights? should I look at changing the gear ratio? Does it have the power to turn the track in 2-4' of snow that we get in central Canada?
We do some trail riding here but mostly we like to get out and carve in powder, climb some hills and explore.
Any and all advice is appreciated.
