I have my XTX set up real good with the red HC spring and D&F's (running with or a little better then my buds ullmer clutched sled with same mods thanks Bwwelke) but some of the #'s I'm seeing on here with the black spring look better. I bought a black spring last week and would like to try it out (It's all about learning how to clutch these things) so I'm looking for a set up with the black spring to start with. I have one from NyTrOMaNIaC but would like to hear more input to give me some ideas. This clutching game gets adictive when things work and I'm just trying to learn everything I can. Thanks for all the help!!

Will it settle my RPM's down...with the set up I'm running (Red spring) any little change in conditions (Temp & snow conditions) make a difference in RPM. For example went out Sunday, -6 celcius with about 2 inches of loose snow on a beat up groomed trail and my RPM's were bang on (8800-9000). Last night -25 and hard fast trails and I was bouncing off the rev limiter all night. I never had this problem before I put my header and PC3 in. I'll try NyTrOMaNIaC's set up this weekend.
Thanks
C
BTW I understand I can't clutch for every condition and powder will bring my RPM's down but a 400 rpm difference with 2 inches of loose snow and a 19 celcius difference seem a lot.
Thanks

I've been running the black spring setup for about 600 miles....rpms were about 8960-9050 consistantly...I hit 9200 once riding during a fresh powdery day...but for the most part they stay around the 89-9000 area. I think occasionally you will get slight changes in rpm ranges....depends on what conditions you are in..I found that my rpms would go higher in powder than on hardpack...I'm more consistant on hardpack ( 89-9000 )...temps don't seem to be a factor for me.
