Quicknqueation about the same shock. I also have a 2011 with mega fox.. Took it all apart to have it painted up. The mega is at 150lbs. I can't push it in at all.. Just way too stiff. I assume this is normal? And other grey piston/shock not sure what it's called I can just pull it in and out with next to no resistance. Is this normal? I understand it's to put more or less weight on the skis
You will never be able to push the mono in by hand at 150 lbs, it take leverage from 2 directions. That rod in the bottom is not a shock, its a transfer rod and basically controls the weight transfer and control of the skid.

That sucks ...lol i just bought a mega float for my 2006 grrr. Guess I won't be selling my mono shock untill i do a little testing with the mega float. I also bought a set of floats for the front.. should I be happy with the fox floats in the front compare to the gytr's?
And what's a good air pressure to start on the mega and fronts??

You have to run a really high pressure to keep the MegaFloat from crashing on the G-Outs. I would upgrade to a 2011 and up Mono Shock and remove the cable.

There are 3 version of the new style Mono Shock after 2011, Mega Float, Mono Shock from the Standard with cable adjust and there was one that was offered with an adjustment knob in place of the cable. The last one with no cable is the better shock. Valved correctly and works extremely well.

I know unless you are super small, the Mega Float is not a great ride compared to that shock you have. You would be better off revlaving that shock by Hygear then use that air shock.

Give the Mega Float a try if you have already purchased it but you will need to run 180 to 200 lbs in it and with the fox manual pump your arm will fall off to get it set to that. Use a compressor and then is the manual pump to back it down to the setting you desire.
