Hey all. Maybe this has been metioned on here before and I appologize if it was but...
I had 2 yammys, one 07 apex rtx and a 11 apex se. The se seems to be....powerless. I keep asking myself where are all 160+ ponies in this thing. I get off the trail into some powder and speed drops dramatically (eg leaving hard pack at 80 km/h and down to 30 km/h in about 200ft) and actually smell burning or hot belt and sometimes have wondered if I'm gonna get out of here in some deeper spots. on a good hard pack trail it won't lift the skis or try to and the fastest it's gotten up to is about 145 ish and it takes a long stretch to get it there. And fuel mileage suck! Very disappointed. Where compared to my 07 rtx with a 1.5" track. It perform flawlessly. I've stopped in snow where the top of the seat is at my armpits (I'm 6 ft) and got back on and either take of and it works its way out or hold it to the bar and it stands on end and walks it's way out, hard pack trail lift the skis off the ground no problem from a dead stom and will still do so while traveling anything under 45-50 km. The 07 I've seen the speedo up to 198km/h and didn't have to push it hard and had very little of throttle left. It can transition from hard pack to powder and not skip a beat or slow down. From what I've noticed in soft snow speedo will hit between 80-100 km and hold it for miles. Both machines are stock except the o7 I put the 1.5" track on. Anybody have some input on this or similar experience? As I'm really regretting the so called upgrade. Sorry for the long post
I should also mention that the 11 se has been like that since I got it. Even while doin the whole break in procedure it was still a slouch and was hoping it would perk up once it got some miles on it

A few things to check.
1. The EXUP is it adjusted as per manual?
2. Are one of the cables seized or broken for the EXUP?
3. Have the clutches been serviced and working freely?
4. Are all the bearings in the skid good?

I haven't driven it in a couple years but now the kids are old enough to take out and gonna fire it up. That's just how I remember it being and was to the point of taking it back to the dealer and telling them to keep it. But I have read on here how to adjust the exup and it will be the first thing I check once it's in the garage. As for the rest of your sugestions. I would think that a new machine would perform well and things should be set up right. How ever. There are machines that are lemons. Also there is only about 1100 kms on it last time I checked
I had the same sled and it was a dog when I first got it. The exup was not adjusted right from day one. After adjusting properly the sled hauled the mail. That gives me hope and and a $hit eating grin. Hope thats what it is. Also I do remember one night we were riding and I held it to the bar for a couple miles to see if it would wake up and as I let off and turned back to look for others. I had flames coming out the pipes. Anyone have that before? Made me wonder if perhaps over fuelling and AFR was off and giving me problems?I had the same sled and it was a dog when I first got it. AFR?? What other mods does the machine have?

None. Now after reading that I know the system should correct itself. But perhaps ecu programmed wrong? I've heard of can am sidexsides getting wrong softwear installed and not running to full potential
When is the last time you actually rode the sled?? Hard to help you if you are just guessing what may be wrong according to other vehicles.

It hasn't left the barn for.... 4 years in February. Got it drove it for just about 2 months and parked it when I went to work for a few months. But in those 2 months I drove it it was a sucked out machine. I would get spanked by my 07 when raced against each other. And I would say it would be comparable to my moms 550 Polaris which we would swap and she would drive mine. She dove both my machines and she even called it a gutless pos. And for a lady in her mid 60s at the time I would have a hard time keeping up to her when she had my 07 and I was on the 11. Your right I haven't driven it in years but I wanna pull it out of the barn and take it for a rip and if it's how I remember, I'll have some insight on where to start based on your helpful opinions. Lol and ya I get its like

Brand new sled....low on power...flames out exhaust...burning belt smells.
Obviously sled was not right or typical of any year Apex.
Sounds like it should have gone right back to the dealer while it was under warranty.
It sounds to me like you could have one dead cylinder.
-dead spark plug?
-bad coil?
-plugged/dead injector?

Ya I was gonna take it back to the dealer but by the time I came home late spring couldn't load it in the truck and hate borrowing trailers. Hind sight I should have taken it backBrand new sled....low on power...flames out exhaust...burning belt smells.

Don't expect the "top speed" to register the same as your 07...the 11 Apex speedo is a whole lot more accurate than that of your older Apex.
Sounds like you need to service your machine, especially since it's been sitting that long.

I had a 07 that was a flame thrower and no one could figure out why but it was cool as hell. but it ran like a raped ape I bet you have a exup problem as long as it runs and idles well its prolly not fuel or spark but could be.

So I went to the farm today and got the sled. Checking the exup valve it was out a bit, maybe 1/4 drill bit towards the rear. Is that enough to make a difference? Got it as close to centered as possible. But another thing I noticed when I piped the belt off is I can open the secondary with one hand and clutches cold. I know on my 07 even warm I would need 2 hands. Is it possible that the clutching is different and more aggressive on the rtx, as I remember this 11 se was somewhat aimed at a trail sled and that some clutching was changed compared to the rtx that was their ditch banging capable sled at the time. Am I comparing oranges to.....mandarin oranges so to speak? Look the same but lil different on the inside?
