Well im starting this topic to go over some of the mods ive made to my sled. I purchased my nytro new this past fall. It is a 2012 Nytro MTX 153. A list of current mods is below

-OFT rollover valve and tether
-OFT relocater
-mod rod vents
-153x2.25 camoplast challenger track
-roest ip vent and gauge relocater
-roest skid plate
-better boards
-MCX 180 turbo kit

Mods that I am waiting on parts for:

-skinz front end kit
-parts for homemade MCX snorkel
-rear gas rack
-front fox float 2 skinz airprene covers
-skins tunnel gussets

future mods to be done:

-kmod skid
-skinz front and rear bumpers
-OFT oil tank
-yamaheaters
-new skis?

last weekend i just went down and picked up my sled from Ulmer Racing. Allen installed the MCX 180 kit. Of course as soon as I got it home i had to dig in and see how it looked ;)!
Here is a shot of the turbo and one of how he installed the gauges with the roest IP vent kit. The gauges are easy to read standing up, and I love the roest relocator, so i think this will be a good setup all the way around.

Always good to see more ND sleds. Seems like seeing a Yamaha in ND is a rare occurrence.

doing some more work to the sled. i have it ready for when i get my skinz front end and shocks back from oft. i also have some oilite bushings coming from ulmer. i put the skinz tunnel braces on the other day. i may do the airframes one day, maybe not. im a big guy and these braces made a HUGE difference in flex for me. they are pretty stiff now. i made my own snorkel for my turbo out of a 90 degree turbo tube elbow and aluminum joint connector i purchased off ebay. looks like things are coming together. next purchases i think will be an oft big nutz 3 wheel kit. id like to put a kmod skid in, but i dont think it will be in the budget this year. you can also see the yamaha rear rack in the last picture.

Here are a few updated pictures. a arms are off and i should have my skinz front end in a few days. also pulled the track out, i just ordered a 153 challenger extreme 2.5 from tracks usa too so the chaincase is apart as well. i also have purchased a powder coat kit from eastwood and i am going to be making a powder coat oven from an old fridge. i am going to start by coating my spindles, riser block, and front and rear bumpers. if all goes well ill probably start powder coating every small piece i can get off the sled! rails and other rear suspension components would probably be next though. i also purchased a snowjack that is what is holding up the rear of the sled atm. it will be nice when i ride solo around the plains.

I have to ask, if you do end up buying a skid. Why are you set on a K-mod? I own a timbersled, although I'm really not a big fan of them. But I've owned a K-mod as well and every trait I don't like about the T-sled the K-mod has, but it has more issues on top of those.

Nice Looking, project!

well ive never had either so it is sort of a crap shoot, but i have done quite a bit of research on the forums and i have heard very good things about the k-mod. overall it seems like it would be a toss-up.

finally got my skinz kit in. i also got my new 2.5 CE track too! Here are a few install pics. i first installed my ulmer oilite bushings. to remove the stock ones i just used a punch and hammered them out. to install them i just got a bolt with some washers and pulled them through. i also purchased a powder coating gun! i am using an old oven in my basement that i have never used for curing. i did my spindles today in satin black and they turned out pretty dang good. i am going to do my front and rear bumpers as well as a few other parts. I did miss a few corners in the spindles, i think i am just going to touch up with some spray paint. i was pretty happy for my first go at it. i was suprised how cheap it was to get into it as well. the gun was $100, $10 for some powder and thats about it. prep work was the hardest. i bought some powder stripper and it didnt work very good so i did a fair amount of sanding (dont have a sand blaster).

Lookin' good Tony.

Sorry for the mix up on your order.

As far as rear skids are concerned, I'd suggest contacting Skinz about what they feel about what works and what does not on the Nytro. In other words, don't put too much faith in to what you read on the inter-link, ask the people who have ridden all of the set-ups ;)!

Update, here is a picture of my powder coating gun i bought. today i powder coated my front bumper, foot pegs, and riser block. installed my skinz shock covers, got my track and shocks installed yesterday, still need to do track alignment and tension, and camber/toe on front end.
