Heres a few pics of my brothers(7 skulls)YFZ450 2012 carb model. The yamaha hour/tach meter was a pretty easy install.Four wraps around the coil with the wire, run it up to the handlebar pad, then into the meter unit which is held on with velcro.Make sure the wire is all the way into the unit or it will read backwards on the RPMs :o| .Looks factory with the yamaha symbol on it.Also had the dealer install a GYT magnetic drain plug(a must on a yfz 450).More to follow soon.

Just got my graphics on the 2012, and ready to really start riding. It feels really strong in just the break in period.

Gets better with ever hour, just got to resist putting the loud handle down for too long :exc: .You may also want to install a GYT oil drain plug with the magnet at the threaded end. When i did the first oil change it was coated with a fine ,metal dust.Just normal when breaking a motor in but its good to know its out of there.

Thanks for the tip!!! I want to get an exhaust, Dirtwheels did a review of just a slip on for the 2012 and said it was a different animal all together. They also said it's not worth getting a full exhuast unless your building the motor as the headpupe flows well.

Looked at that magazine yesterday. That exhaust seems to really wake up the 450.Only fault i have with it is you have to remove the stock airbox lid(do half our riding near water).Heres a pic of what i have to do with the PC filter skins to fit the YFZ450 air filter(these skins are for a raptor,yfz450).Got to have these for sand riding.

This may sound dumb but the more I ride it, the more powerful it feels. Is this all in my head?

Nope  .
Just got home and mine is finally broken in. Definitely felt faster each time I grabbed a handful of throttle. Can't wait for it to fully loosen up.

Both our quads(raptor700,YFZ450)use 10W40 yamalube all-season performance.
