2015 YAMAHA SNOWMOBILES

Is agree on the sound also, the only thing that would get me back on a 2 stroke would be an DI version of the SRX mill...... even the 4cyl apex don't sound as sweet as a triple triple! My phazer just sounds very odd, even with aftermarket exhaust and nytro/vipers sound ok.

Inline 4 stroke twins IMHO always sound agricultural, to some extent.. the polaris 750 turbo sounds decent especially modded. However, make that NA twin a wide angle (60-90 degree) v twin and it will sound really good. Listen to nearly any ducati motorcycle ( most are v twins) and you'll know I mean. I love the sound of my full yosh piped tl1000s.
The inline triple 4 stroke sounds good, and make good tq, but yeah the apex sounds better.

I agree with the triple two stroke sound. I still enjoy the sound and throttle response of my srx. It has a pioneer long travel front and mono shock rear with boss seat and actually will run with a lot of new iron on the trails.

Nice ride!!! ;)!

The way I look at it Yamaha made a killing on the Viper. They sold quite a few and it costs them only a tiny percentage of what developing and building a new sled on their own would have cost. I think we will see maybe some new motors, but more Yamacats. Not my preference for sure but it will make them money. It is nice product, if they can smooth over some of the issues and maybe offer some support like manuals, dealer training, and the like.

Was reading Snowest today and they posted a little blurb about the 2015 sneak peeks being in Minneapolis ... sounded like it has already happened. I know the snow rags get an advanced look at the new sleds so they take some pics and gather the manufacturer's ad copy for re-printing as if it's their unbiased review, but was surprised to read about this, as I hadn't heard this was being held in Minneapolis this year.

This is what we will get from Yamaha, Yamacats.
I think the Nytro is the last snowmobile Yamaha has maked.
I dont think we wil see more sleds from Yamaha, think they just will be selling motors from now.
Cat will make the sleds and Yamaha will do the engines. :o|

I can say that last year at the Minneapolis show the "guide" on our little bus trip to ride the sleds told us he had ridden some really great new Yamaha sleds, but none had went to production at least yet. Maybe there is some hope.

Sure we will get a couple more Yamacats. But rest easy we'll get more 100% Yamaha's.

Why do you think AC spend all this money on making there own engine? Just to develop one then the next year sign a lifetime contract with Yamaha? lol

They both said this is just to fill in the gap the recension made.

I dont think Yamaha is going to make more snowmobiles.
Havent heard anything from Yamaha that they will be making a 100% Yamaha snowmobile.

If you read between the lines on Chris Reid's blog he practically says a new one is coming eventually.

I think the Yamaha/Cat relationship is more of vendor agreement and not about technology sharing. Viper aside, I think Cat just wants Yamaha to build motors for them ... motors built to Cat's specifications. Take Cat's new 600 for example. The tech behind that motor is all Cat ... they own the intellectual property for its design. They just need someone to build it for them, and that is where Yamaha comes in. Makes sense to me.

From that standpoint, I think the Viper, and any subsequent Viper models (like a mountain version) that may be introduced in 2015 and beyond are going to be short-lived. I think Yamaha used the Viper build as negotiating chip to what is likely more of a long term vendor agreement, and that at some point the Viper will be gone. When that happens, I would also guess that a Yamaha designed motor (like the nytro engine in Cat's XF 7000) will also go away. I think Cat will develop its own engine technology and Yamaha will build it. Nothing more.

of course it's all speculation, but if right would eventually mean new sleds from Yamaha and new Cat-designed, but Yamaha built engines for Cat sleds.

Now that the Viper continues and sell as well as it does, then I think Yamaha sees that it is more profitable and just sell engines and not create their own models.
Show me that lines that says there will be a new 100% Yamaha snowmobile in the future.

Snowtrax TV new episode have super high praises about the SR Viper and see in there Facebook feed that all manufactures have some really cool new mountain sleds and a few really nice trail sleds for 2015. So they say and end the statement with wish I could say more.
