2018 Yamaha Release

You lucky bugger!! I bet you had a blast. Its going on 3 weeks and there is no place to ride thats less then 4 hrs from me :(
Sunday trails were open in Eau Claire and Trempeleau County. Got 110 on and had a blast in the fresh snow.

Just got back from 5 days and 1300 miles of riding in Hornepayne Hearst Cochrane area. Snow was Awesome trails where Awesome, ran into a snowstorm in Hornepayne and had to put up with up to 10 inches of fresh powder on the trails! Still love my Apex! Glad its still around for 2018! I find the linked front shocks interesting! Maybe an 18 in my future.

Very happy to see the Sno-Scoot. Have to turn the young ones into future sledders!
Before they cut district 15 we used to get up to Longlac every year. Been thinking of Hearst but that would make it 700 miles in the truck. May have to plan a couple years down the road.

So jealous and sad :(

did the abitibi canyon loop last weekend with 6 sleds (brothers and guests) on sat. it was awsome with muni like trails. tried to do fri but had to go to er with bro. post on it later.

Why not preorder a '18 50th Anniversary model? They look sharp and if you're an Apex fan that should last you for years.

Well, here's my dilemma with doing exactly that. I own two 40th Anniversary sleds; a Nytro RTX and an Apex LT-X. During the years I've owned the Apex, I had thought about upgrading to a newer model to take advantage of the new features like EPS and EXUP to name a few but was content with what I had. I loved the 40th Anniversary graphics and was really looking forward to seeing what the 50th Anniversary models looked like. Additionally, I, like everyone else, was holding out hope that a new 4 cylinder 998cc model would be released for their 50th Anniversary so I held off. Now that it appears this will be the last year of the Apex, if I want to pre-order one, I either have to settle for the Apex that has a 129" track with 1.25" lugs or go the opposite extreme and get a XT-X which has a 146" track with 1.75" lugs. I can only assume Yamaha not offering any additional 50th Anniversary Apex models (e.g. LT-X) is due to dealer leftover stock. As much as I love the 50th Anniversary Apex models, I don't want to go back to a shorty model and I have a concerns with having a 1.75" track for trail riding. I can live with the additional length of the X-TX vs LT-X but it's the lug height that has me concerned. I have always studded my tracks (only down the center) for those icy corners and lake runs but can't image studding a 1.75" track. Just like others had mentioned about not being able to get certain models in Yamaha blue, I wish Yamaha would offer different options during their Spring Power Surge so that if I can't get a 2018 50th Anniversary Apex LT-X, that I could at least get the XT-X with a shorter lug height. As much as I want to pre-order a 50th Anniversary model, I may have to settle for a leftover and get the track length and lug height I want. It's that or refresh the Apex LT-X and continue riding it for the foreseeable future.

See if your dealer will work a deal to swap tracks for you at no charge if you pay full msrp? Sounds like your biggest hang up is the 1.75" track which can easily be replaced with a lower profile one for trail riding. I agree that a 1.75 is too tall for mostly trail use.

Cut the track down. I have not done it personally but some have with good results!

Rabx-1 i'm in the same boat as you but i think i fond a good answer i found a 2013 left over apex in white se that is a hell of a deal and i'm going to put a 136 under it and put the 50th decals on and only have about 9k into and keep my 40th.

first thing I did to my 2012 was pull the track and put a pre-studded on it sold the OEM on e-bay and had less into the new track then it would have cost to buy studs for the OEM track. not a real bad Job either.

That's probably what I would end up doing as I wouldn't have the dealer swap tracks when I can/have done it before. The only other concern I have is how much noticeable will the additional lengths of the suspensions be compared to what I currently have and the XT-X. As much as I love the 50th Anniversary package, man are there some leftover deals to be had out there; was searching between Michigan and Wisconsin. And, if you go with a 2017 Apex you should get the upgraded shock if it hasn't already been installed. Since I was hoping to upgrade the 40th Nytro and Apex LT-X to a 50th Vector LT-X and an Apex LT-X, maybe I shouldn't be all that disappointed with the 2018 release considering the money I would be saving.

I ride trails with a 2.25" Power Claw. Sure the guys behind me complain about golf balls... but oh well. lol. That 1.75" will be just fine.

black hills trails must not be like N.E. ...... right now our trails are as flat as a pool table and as hard as concrete, in 1 day your sliders would be down to the aluminum rail.

The LT-X hasn't been offered for probably 6 years, the XTX is, I think a much better design. If you want a 1.25 track I can set you up with 4 or 5 Dealers in my area that would be more than happy to sell you a brand new takeoff for about $200.00 CDN, ($150,00 US)they have 100 or more in stock. Your 1.75 would bring you 3 or 4 times that here.

Maybe Yamaha has a new chassis with a ton of goodies but it just wasn't ready. Yamaha maybe didn't want to release a new model that didn't have the majority of the bugs worked out... I am just spit balling
