My dealer was on his way to Toronto last week for the motorcycle technical update so I asked him if he could find out any details of the clutching changes.
He asked a Yamaha Tech and was told that there is a new multi-angle helix along with secondary spring that is claimed to reduce clutch temperatures by 50-70 degrees(which seems like a bit of a stretch).
Belt is to remain the same.

I wonder if we can trust that Yamaha has the fix for something they claim was never a problem.
Unfortunately we'll have to wait until February to see if they make a difference. By then i'll have blown 3 belts, tried 1000 different clutch set-ups & posted 12 times on my "results".

all u have to do is allign them side to side and youll reduce 50 degrees - there all off 1.5 mm too far out - remove the washer behind secondary and youll get 65% there ---- send me your clutch and ill machine it for free - 50 bucks to ship it back...

Thanks for the offer Waldo, I have a couple neighbors with lathes. No doubt, offset and alignment is very important, but its not the entire issue. I'd like to see Yamaha move to a 1.5 inch belt width(preferably Mitsuboshi made), and return to the 14.5 degree angle on the primary sheaves. These machines have big power, especially so when tuned.all u have to do is allign them side to side and youll reduce 50 degrees - there all off 1.5 mm too far out - remove the washer behind secondary and youll get 65% there ---- send me your clutch and ill machine it for free - 50 bucks to ship it back...

Awesome offer!
Although the offset is NOT the only issue on these sleds. It will fix some, but not all.
