2019 release

Had it on my 06...rear shock only. The cat site says it controls front and rear at the same time. 3 settings soft medium firm...like the QS-3

Ok that makes it a little more interesting wonder if you can adjust them individually. Seems like it may be hard to fine tune it otherwise.

X2. Purple. Really ?!? Purple looked bad on sleds in 1997, and it still looks bad now.

The whole marketing campaign was terrible. The videos were flat, the talking points were all over the place, the reveals were amateur hour. But after the 70's reveal you get the barney-mobile... ughh..

The CEO seemed to have his act together other than beating everyone up about how well their other divisions are doing, when he got to the part where he said the one thing the other brands didn't need was a dealer channel, he should step back and add 'and a marketing department'. Hey artic cat folks -- I'm bored in my day job, I can come fix your marketing for you.. all it will cost is a couple of toys :)

Seriously though, I wonder how well the new suspension will work out in real life, its a pretty hard play for a very narrow market segment.

I agree it was poorly done and it almost seems that snowmobiles are sort of an afterthought for the company. I’m sure they are on a timeline to turn it around or have the division sold off to the highest bidder... Yamaha you better have your pocket book ready.

Narrow market segment?

The mountain class is the fastest growing class....mountain is over 35% of all sled sold 33% crossover and the trailseds coming in last. Just look at doo and poo , the mountain sleds always get the newest tech

I hear you. We had on the fly shock adjustment in 06 on the apex GT! Curious to how cat is doing it.
Yes and it goes bad all the time. Mine went bad again.....likely a severed wire harness. I am going to re-work the Ohlins shock to have a manual clicker adjustment....all done with that wire harness junk getting wrecked by ice chunks.

Back on track....I agree purple looks really bad on sleds, at least for the general consumer. If we were all girls, women,Prince fans ,Vikings fans or Barney fans......but that's not the case.

So apparently Cat isn't ready to up the ante either on their 800? It sounds like Polaris is from what I have heard to an 860cc.

Here is the new 7000. I guess that confirms an updated SRViper is coming for 2019. Hopefully Yamaha adds a little more style to the hood, because the Gen. 2 ProCross hood in AC trim looks a bit boring.

If you scroll down a touch you can see it from the front. Basically the new plastic with the radiator vents in the hood. I think we also get new handlebar switches which probably explains the different kill switch on the Yamaha teaser video.

If you look closely at the picture of the new 7000 you’ll see the new kill switch.

The best thing they could do for the 7000/Viper is let Yamaha design the ignition and get some of the throttle response back. No way I could ride one of those, they are too docile for me.

Well it’s possible that it will switch to the Yamaha designed ECU like in the Sidewinder. The tri-hub is also gone. It’ll probably be the best Viper yet for someone in the market for a new 600 class 4 Stroke.

The only “new” things I noticed are an old Simple 2 stroke style throttle block on the handle bars and extra idlers on the skid. Clearly says Genesis 4 stroke on the side panel and it’s still a procross
its a sidewinder that u can see...same body panel and rear suspension

Narrow - as in - if you want a sled that probably is truly mountain only, then sure, it looks pretty cool. Of the 100k sleds sold annually (TAM), less than 1/3 are mountain, and if you give each brand some credit there (not Yamaha) then 10k sleds for each manufacturer (SAM), and then you have a subcategory for a scalpel with a narrow, single rail suspension, call it half of one manufacturers 10k SAM so the SOM is probably sub-5K.. that's pretty narrow. And it probably isn't a very defendable market considering that there is prior art with the single rail design (a patent won't put any guarantees on that 5k number).

So taking what we learned tonight I’m going to make the call that the Sidewinders (all models) will be BNG with the same improvements that the Thundercat/King Cats got.

There might be a top dog SRX based on the Sidewinder with improvements for the trail and lake racing markets to replace the Apex.

The Gen. 2 SRViper will replace the current Viper. Vector and Japan built Venture hanging around another year? Cat still has the rebadged VK540 so Japan is still building “some” snowmobiles.

(What replaces the Phazer???)

The SnoScoot gains an ES package. It also appears the ES ZR 200 has a Speedo.

Let’s see how close I am in a few days.

Guess I am the only one who liked purple on sleds in the 90s. Was really hoping for a 90s theme and that the purple would look killer. Well the purple is a killer alright as it killed any interest in me going from my 17 to a 19.

Noticed this little tidbit on the arcticinsider website...

“New ECM calibration on 6, 7 and 8000 Series engines delivers what Cat is calling “enhanced performance” (and what I’ll call “cleaner feeling”).”

So if the new Viper has the same ECU as the older ones will we be able to update to this “enhanced performance” calibration? Hmm

In one of the Alpha One launch videos they state, "Years in development, and ONLY for Arctic Cat."

So I guess we won't be seeing it on team blue.

7000 series is only offered for trail sleds so meaning the Viper is coming to a end possibly
