2019 release

AC is February 25 so I’m sure Yamaha will be around that or same day!

Here’s what I think is coming , single cylinder 1000 turbo in a very light weight chassis!

That's a good point, that if anything would be released that would be duplicated by Yamaha, they would have to have common release dates. New plastics on the viper would be a valid guess. Something with the 100hp weber motor used in the Havoc X is possible too. I'm just not sure they had enough time to develop a sled around it since the Textron acquisition.

I will say it one time.... Vmax-4 in an all new Japanese chassis with Apex motor.

You might be right on that Vmax-4 statement! They have to have something in that HP range!

The smart business model would be to offer up an NA998 and standardize on one engine platform. Many would agree that the 1049 could go away, and be replaced by the NA998. This would also be a good time to replace the viper/7000 plastics with the new AC plastics being used on other 2-stroke sleds and the Sidewinder/9000 series.

Would an NA998 in new plastics be called a Venom?

What's that NA998 make, 110ish hp?? At least that's what it's said to be in the YXZ.

No WAY the 1049 should go away. That engine has proven to be a rock just like the 998 4 cyl. Besides, Yamaha uses it in watercraft too. The 1049 isn't going anywhere.

110 or 204 HP would be only engine choices?? No middle ground. Dumb.

The Phazer is a turd that's been swirling the bowl for entirely too long. A 100-110 HP sled to replace it would be nice. Yamaha is missing the market with people who don't want or need excess power. Doo, Polaris, & Cat all now offer that. Yamaha has that horrible handling, freeze your #*$&@ off, gutless wonder... the Phazer. [emoji90] [emoji90] [emoji90] [emoji90]

Well, I can see a two cylinder 900cc engine based on the yz450 but it hen 2 cylinders

I'd like to have something to replace my Viper MTX with in a season or two.Right now all there is the Sidewinder and as much as I like it, it's not the sled for me.

It will be interesting to see what the HP numbers would be, as it should be nearly similar, if not more than the viper. The HP numbers of that engine in a SXS are lower for some reason. It may be tuning of the engine to work with more weight. That was seen by the hp numbers of the 998 used in the Wildcat XX prototype as well. There is a need for a 100-110hp sled, and also a 150-160hp sled.

We can hope and prey to fit all classes, but it will revolve around which engines AC and Yamaha decide to standardize on, and the tuners will have to take it from there.

One point to think about....
The Insurance companies have a big influence on cc #’s these days.Under a thousand seems to be where things are going with 4strokes.
That’s what I was told when I found out about the SW in early 2016 before there public debut.

This is very true, and the fact that the OEM’s want to use the big engines in their SXS’s as well. Most of the states have a 1000cc limit on Class II ATV’s. So they have to keep them under 1000cc. The 998 will be the engine of choice for Yamaha and AC/Textron for production SXS. That’s mentality will filter to Sleds. And honestly, the potential of that engine with Turbo is so crazy.

Good ideas guys, this is fun to see this conversation.
