It will be interesting to see if they did away with the ROV on this Lake Racer. If you roll it, you have bigger issues.

Idk.....I'm kinda new to this sport @ 25yrs of riding. I can't for the life of me remember rolling over on a groomed trail. Blew a corner every now & then. Dodged a tree here & there. Been forced out every once in a while. Not to mention some really close calls. Guess ive been pretty lucky!

I don't know that I would worry all that much.
 

This makes great pillow talk. If you switch brands, it's all good. Yamaha folds, you did the right thing for you. Yamaha stays, jmho....you'll be back.

Skidoo blew a big fart with the 850. Im getting the squirts even thinking about it. 900t...well take your chances. Not to mention, out of my price range for 150h/p sled. $16k......pass.
Polaris 800 was down on power 140+/-. So they build an 850 at a power output increase of 9%. Of which 8% could have been gotten from 800.....lol. what a joke. Lol....

Yeah. according to D&D Powersports, stock 850 is closer to 170 hp

You are correct. Trailport, VForce Reeds, XPR Silencer, and added timing

2018 Ski Doo 850. From stock Dyno test to Trailport, VForce Reeds, XPR Silencer, and added timing. This test was done over a couple weeks of testing and trying a number of set ups. We raised the main exhaust port timing and kept the triple sub ports stock being that they are already on the high side. With porting alone we seen 8-9 hp gain. We also went from a 8 hole base gasket to a 6 hole total of .008 lower to help c/r with the higher main exhaust port timing. One again the VForce reeds seen a really nice gain in power all the way through the power range with a 3 hp gain on top end. We will be doing more engine dyno testing and field and track dyno testing with this machine and plan on running it in the Old Forge shootout coming up this weekend. Stay tuned!

I just can't see ditch banging with any of the 4s sleds or doing much deep snow off trail stuff. For sure this is where the 2s machines shine. At my age I am not into that anymore and yes I can see why Yamaha is considered the old man's sled. I'll be 55 this year and though I am in good shape and still ride hard it's 99% on the trails so the 4s suits me perfect. I love the reliability, no smoke, gas and go, no tinkering at this point in my life.

I was really hoping they were going to do another 4s turbo in something like the 850 4s motors that were mentioned. The cool thing about the turbo as we now know with the SW/TCat is you can flash for more power if needed. The Viper,Vector,Apex or brand X versions.......you pretty much got what you got other than aftermarket chargers.
Off trail..lol..I'll be 63 next week....lol....but I just can't understand why I won't listen to 2 stroke logic! It's knee to waist deep in by the Pines, and I could sneak around ...actually lean it and carve, and just power out...without worrying about pistons coming out and hitting me in the head...LOL....but....a little while later, stopping in a dumb spot,

I did get stuck...a little digging around the skis, pack down and reset the track...dam...the back is heavy...and the bumper sucks to grip on one side...too narrow because of the taillight...but it came right out blowing snow into the next county. I bet a 141 would be awesome in this goo!

Wow is that corrected Horsepower? My old SRX big bore is supposed to be 165hp and It can walk away from those 850’s. It has 70cc’s less, but it’s a triple tho ;)
Don’t really matter tho because they need to add reeds, port work, timing, fuel tuning for 20hp, all I have to do is dump in race fuel and I’m at 310 horsepower. Makes 182hp sled look like a waste of time. M2C

Is it even worth putting on the dyno? Next they will be testing sno scoots!
 
The thing about it is they are time bombs the way it is stock, can you imagine doing all that? Heck I'd be worried enough that sooner or later it's gonna go boom! Add all that stuff and wow, your chances of it happening go way up.

I figured out why I roll the Skandic over , speaking about rolling over!!
(not my real sleds....only once, on a 2003 rx1....blew a corner and sorta barrel rolled....almost went back to ski doo I was so pissed...and swollen....handled like crap)
The rear suspension of the skandic has these bars that lock it to the frame, so any off camber piece of snow tips the sled, and the narrow front just let's the super wide rack roll ya over! You have to stand and keep jumping side to side if you want to groom our narrow trails properly.
Plus it makes stinky 2 stroke smells...lol
This was my favorite spot to roll over, before I fixed the road crossing. Dangerous, but hey, that's what we got!
