Oh yeah I know people will always spring order but I why do we need the price of used sleds to increase? Its going to end up like the diesel truck market. Outrageous prices for trucks with tons of miles on them. I personally don't want that.
I hear ya but if you have to much stock and selling it for next to nothing for profit you won't be in business for long

Not really seeing this. Granted there will always be those who know they want the latest and best and are comfortable with a spring order. That's a good things. But what about the less devoted. Maybe its unsure of finamces for next winter, maybe those who don't think snowmobiles until early winter? How about those who want to get in as a newbee? All those are going to see nothing to buy except if there are leftovers. Dealers are really not big on paying for sleds over the summer, they will always discount in late winter to get rid of stock. Also, now we are clearly cutting down on the number of new sleds built and sold, although the profits may not be as desired. But less sleds built and sold the less money for R&D for new models. And what about dealers, they will have nothing new sitting on the floor, nothing for people to look and see. My dealers has scrambled all year to go and get sleds from other dealers, he had nothing to sell. Yes, maybe some adjustments in the process are needed but I think AC and probably Yamaha goes too far.
There will always be people who spring order them and the lack of show room models will have the dealer's asking a premium for new old stock and used sled price will be up too, we may not see it as a good thing but in the short term it should be good for cat as long as there's something new in the works for the following year.[/QUOTE

You don't, but the sled makers and dealers do.
And the outcome from that will be less people buying sled which will lead to higher and higher prices which lead caue 90% of the rides to stop buying all together and that will lead to closed doors. Prices cant keep increasing because at some point they will reach the tipping point and the economy will tank and then what? Bye bye company.

You wont be in business long either if you out price 90% of the buyers.

You'd be surprised what people will pay-up for. We are a spoiled and demanding society. I know people that trade-up in trucks only because it has a different grill than the one it replaced.
Not many people really care about the full price of the sled. Today, it's about how much the weekly or monthly payment is.
I have heard that these companies make more off their finance division than the margin of the actual machine.
I watched the first race for the World Superbike season in Australia this weekend. It was sponsored by Yamaha Finance.

Car dealers make more money on financing than selling cars

My son-inlaw and one of my riding buddies are car salesman, the money made is the kick back on financing and the upgrades they sell you. The bank kicks back on the interest rate and the warranty's along with upgrades like tint, rust proofing, pin striping, etc. or in sled world clothing, extended warranty etc. is where they make their money. If you try to do your own finance or pay cash they are not happy campers. Car salesman make over 6 figures and are pushed to sell upgrades like these, also a minimum quota to get the manufacture hold back for volume sales. Look at all the crap the finance guy throws at you, rim damage, excess wear and tear damage, rental car insurance, credit life etc. makes your head spin. They love it when I say to them, why do I want credit life, if I die you can come get it, I wont be needing it any longer.

What to heck is going on at AC? When I got back from riding on the 22nd, I went to my computer, and read an article saying that AC first said their new sleds would be spring order only, but took it back right away. Today, that same article does not even mention spring order at all, and just says more details on the "sales program" will be released at a future date. I guess someone at AC must have inadvertently "let the cat out of the bag" so to speak. That someone probably lost their job over that mistake.

The bigger question is what that means for Yamaha. Let's face it, very few (if any) of us are really expecting any Japan built sleds this year, so if there are going to be any Yamahas built, it will be AC that builds them. If AC is spring order only, then Yamaha must be following suit? I don't think that will work out well for anyone except Ski Doo and Polaris.

Let's hope that AC is going to be spring order only because they are going to be too busy in TRF building all the new sleds that Yamaha has ordered for 2020? LOL

Not going to lie, the AC release didn't correspond with the info i had been hearing or told by the yamaha reps.

So 3 theories,

1 - The rep flat out lied or didn't know what he was talking about. ( jap built sled, 880cc 2 stroke)
2 - Arctic Cat is doing what yamaha did last year to reduce inventory and raise the used market value? Maybe waiting on yamaha's announcement to finalize their line up?
3 - (totally off the wall) Maybe the AC/yammi deal is completely revamped for 2020 and TRF will be building the new yamaha sleds and AC is taking a half assed year off to build yammis and reduce AC inventory?

EFFFFf if i know now. I am curious to see what MArch 5th will bring, but my hopes are down and my preparations are being made to be disappointed.

I have been expecting a Japan new built sled since 2014. And i was realy hoping 2020 was the year! I have given up on Yamaha now :(

Ball equipment in Michigan has a showroom full of NEW 2017, 2018 and 2019 Cats to unload, and yes at deep discounts. I would say AC are doing inventory reduction like Yamaha did.

After cats void in their lineup and 1 viper in last years yamaha line up. I’m guessing a na 998 to fill the gap of the viper

And after we release they will release their 7000

I would say Yamaha has a new engine, now will they continue with the Viper chassis or do they have something new in that category, say a new chassis for their new 135 hp platform, they may use the n/a 998 for this or its a totally new engine, possibly a 2 stroke to fit properly in the chassis, it may be a co partnered built also but hopefully not, where you are not seeing the 7000 in Cats line up, thinking it will be shared and co developed, Cat is just waiting on Yamaha's release.
