If only there were some form of easily accessible media in which Yamaha could break their almost total silence and enlighten us on what their vision is.
Corporations can not ever show their hand for good reasons, I think what they have said they are all in for the sled business is all they can share with us without showing their hand for future products.

I both agree as well as disagree. Agree in the sense that it doesn't make sense to tip their hand, and I've said that before. Disagree in the sense of the almost total silence. Let's face it, we collectively rationalize enough about Yamaha's moves and path forward!

I would imagine that Yamaha's feedback is focused mostly on their dealer network. Public outreach died with Chris Reid's blog.

I do know some people that probably (almost certainly) know the answers to these questions. Number one I haven't run into them lately and number two they might not tell me anything. It seems when there is something real cool in the works.....aka Sidewinder engine with a turbo.....something leaks out. When there is doom and gloom on the horizon mum is the word.

I recently bought an Arctic Cat red front bumper for my SW brand new from a guy on Craigslist last week. Had to meet him at his job site in St. Paul. I quizzed him, what Arctic Cat has red on the Procross chassis? The Thundercat black/white and red.... I think, he says? So how did you get this if you are unsure? Well.....I have a friend that works for Arctic Cat and he cannot sell this stuff like this....so we have an arrangement, I sell it and we have a way we split the $$....Oh, the light bulb went on.

So that lead me into the Arctic Cat/Yamaha relationship. So this guy tells me that his friend said that 2020 was the last year as we know it of Arctic Cat snowmobiles. He claims Yamaha is taking over just the sled portion of it. I asked if that is true are they all called Yamaha or do they have dual brands? He wasn't sure. This is the second person I have heard this from this winter, the other has relatives in Thief River Falls.

One thing is for certain, something is going on behind the scenes. I also heard one of their engineers that helped design the Made in the USA 2 stroke motors was let go along with all those other big names for AC.

It does make a lot sense to clean house before selling a division so potential buyers don’t have to deal with downsizing and putting their people in. Just less messy that way no severance to deal with. I have no idea what’s going on with Textron and Yamaha but a very 1 sided Agreement won’t last long no money in this arrangement for Yamaha or I should say limited profitability for Yamaha. Change is in the wind imo.

I think they are just clearing house because of the age of the workers. I have a buddy that just got a job for Arctic Cat as an Engineer for the sled division that just got out of school last year. I have asked him all the same questions we have been bringing up lately and he tells me nothings and changes the subject. So there is something going on but the that tells me that AC sleds aren't going anywhere.

I agree with this. They don't have to show their hand but it would be nice to hear someone from Yamaha talk about there sleds like they have some pride in their product.

Be careful with that statement definitely laws to prevent older workers from being dumped. Costly packages to do that successfully. Imo the common AC worker doesn’t know anything but rumors flying around for sure. Management can’t stop the rumors just try to calm the work force with their general BS.

I'm just hope that Yamaha gets to a point that they have enough control of what happens with the chassis. We have gone from 17 -20 on the sidewinder with no real upgrades with problem areas ( drive shaft mounting ,oil tank & chain case design) . Now Yamaha is coming out with a updated viper , but AC not selling them .... puts a lot of questions of where this is heading.

They did grow, last year only a few spring order models. This year expanded line up with in-season orders. Baby steps, the other manufactures did not offer anything new/high tech earth shattering.

Amazing. Thats like saying Nobody in my neighborhood works for a living so its okay that i don't work for a living, but at least I thought about working. Baby Steps. Thank God the people who built this country didn't think like you or Yamaha.

Imo Yamaha snow division will not grow this year and it will be a dismal year. Most are waiting for the other boot to drop either Yamaha will acquire AC snow division from Textron, close the Yamaha snow division or break off from Textron and go it alone in USA or Japan. No future for Yamaha in the current one sided OEM Agreement this I’m certain. Expect and prepare for change whatever that will be.

I wonder some times that if ALL yamaha sleds where sold out we might get a rumor or two. If any teasers or rumors come out now who would buy any old new stock let alone snow check. Just a thought.
