Looking at buying a Wells Cargo 25' trailer; searching the forums and there isn't a lot of talk about them.

Would appreciate any opinions from the members and owners about these trailers.

Thanks.

I have owned a Wells before. My experience is they are a quality trailer. I think their SS Aluminum series is a beautiful looking trailer.

Have a personal friend who has had both the older style with flat cargo doors, steel frame and steel pull out ramp and currently owns a Silver Sport Wells V-Nose aluminum frame. Both were 25 footers.

I towed both with his tow vehicle and mine, excellent trailers and towed very well.

The frame on the older one eventually rusted thru and was sold to a constructon contractor who welded plates over the holes and is still using it, 16 years old.

Silver Sport is 6-7 years old and has the hinged ramp doors which are nicer for loading an unloading.

Thanks Yamadog1, I looked at the Silver Sport and the benefits of aluminum but it's the price factor for me....I also want to put a furnace in it and that's adding to the cost.

On their current brochure for the Funwagon it says it has the full width hinge with 3/4" free floating steel pin on the back door.

It has optional backup halogen lights.... Superman and Vector Julie did the trailers you had/used have these lights and or do you know of someone who has them and do they put out adequate light ?

Fun Wagon and Super Sport did/do not have backup lights.

My Triton has the back up light option, yes I like them light's they work well with lot's of light when backing up at night wouldn't be without them.

I have a HaulMark 24' V nose with the steel frame. As said the frame will rust but after the second year I painted it with POR 15 and now don't have to worry about it rusting any more. But it is a heavy trailer. I also had to buy steel as the Aluminum framed trailers were $6,000 more than the steel frame at that time. I don't have back up lights so can't help you there.

After 4 enclosed 4 sled snowmobile trailers I have changed over to car 24' haulers. The are easier to tow, the rear ramp angle is lower and I get 5 sleds in it with no hassle. I have 40,000 btu heater 100# gas, generator and full shop inside. With the sled lift and cart even if the sleds don't have reverse I wheel them right out and a dead sled goes right in with a come-along. I paid $3500 for this last one its an 07 with 10,000 lbs axles.

Trailer

Dog you have went to great lengths to equip your trailer to work on your friends AC. I admire you that would be sweet. I also like the lower axle. Seriously I was surprised at how easy they are to heat, it really doesn't take much. You can overkill on the furnace thing.

What I have friends with AC's I got to run with a better class of people - next I'll know people with beemers and drinking latte :jump:
