Ya know, a lot of guys that I ride with keep telling me that I should "upgrade" to a new Doo. We don't have an Arctic Cat, Polaris or Yamaha dealer within 300 miles of here, and that dealer is in Canada. Therefore just about everyone rides Ski-Doo around here.
They make the point that the chassis and geometry are better (a lot of guys riding new Freerides this season) and that the 2 strokes have better HP to weight ratio. That they are better in the trees and sidehill better. This may be so, but my 03 RX1 Mountain seems to do pretty well. I go most places that everyone else goes on their new Doos and I suspect if I were a better rider, I could go anywhere the guys on the new 2 strokes go. I have over 5K miles on my RX and expect to put another 5K or more on it before I have to do anything to the engine beyond keeping oil and coolant in it.
So, I have considered a two stroke. But I don't want to give up the reliability.
If I were to buy a new sled (the 03 RX is the only sled I've owned) I think the only one I'd consider is a 15 Mountain Viper with the turbo kit. I think that 180-200 horsepower with a lighter, more nimble chassis, 162 track and Yamaha 4stroke reliability may just be the ticket.

I don't think I'll go back to a 2 stroke. I sold my 02 Viper to get this Warrior and I love it. The only time I wish I had my Viper was when I got this bad boy stuck. It takes 2 men and a boy to get it out. Although if Yamaha came out with a direct injected 3 cylinder 2 stroke sled, that would be tempting. It would be hard to give up the 4 stroke though.

I have my vector.. My wife has a 01 V-Max 700, now that is one SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET running motor.. 11,000 miles without a hitch.. Still has all the original wheels.. Can't say that about my vector.. MM.

hey guys just wondering how many of you own a 2 stroke as well. I love my boosted nytro but thinking of getting a new 2 stroke to have the best of both world
I'm an old school sledder and still have some 2-strokes in the stable: '02 SRX and a '96 VMax 4. I have more fun riding the SRX than I do on the Apex based sleds that we have. There's just something special about the sound of the Yamaha triple/triples in the SRX's and the four cylinders in the VMax 4's that get the blood pumping like no other sleds currently out there. Put a monoshock skid in some of these older Yamaha 2-stroke sleds and you can really have some fun.
Is it December yet?

I must agree, I put a mono skid into a 91 Phazer II last year with plastic skis and a 1" ripsaw from an 07 Phazer FX and this sled just rips. It kinda puts a smile on your face that my 4 strokes just can't match.
