My father has a 93 big bear that he bought new. The rear shock has finally given up the ghost and now he's bouncing all over the trail. He doesn't want to spend $300+ on a shock for a wheeler that he basically uses just during hunting season every year. He's not real hot on waiting to find a used one that might give up at any time also. Is the stock shock rebuildable? If not, is there any reason why we can't use a snowmobile shock that's got approximately the same length when fully extended as long as it can collapse far enough? Does anybody know what the extended and collapsed dimensions are?
Thanks
Thanks
Try doing a Google search on decore or delcore. They might rebuild it for you. Not so sure on a snowmobile shock though. The shocks in the rear skid wouldn't be long enough and the ones in the front might be long enough but likely don't have the spring as the front is carried by 2 shocks not one.

Those steel bodied ATV shocks are not rebuildable...I would think the sled shock would work, it might be stiffer. Why not give it a try.
