i had the sled out getting ready for this weekend. the track i was testing was only 400' and i averaged 95-97mph in every run. i was hitting the rev limiter if i braked/throttle at engagement on take off. if i just throttled up before engagement and hit it, it would just rev to 10,800 and hold there. that's with a top 25 tooth, i was thinking of gearing down to 23t.
i don't know what kind of speeds it'll run in 660' this weekend. i was hoping it would get into the 120's. what's your thoughts; good, bad or indifferent?

Where are you guys running this weekend? 120 would be a stretch on a stage 1 kit

i run a 136" speed track with 198 ice picks(doesn't spin, only hooks up). i have a 10 tooth front driver with 8" big wheel kit. we're going over to sharbot lake. they have heads up 660' racing on snow or ice, your choice. i'm going to race on ice in the king of the ice and 4 stroke class. king of the ice pays $300 and trophy and 4 stroke is a 50/50 payout. if you're not racing anywhere this weekend you and rob should come over. they said last yr there was 130 sleds and this yr they're hoping for more. my buddy is running a new cat with 28lbs of boost in the king of the trail snow.

I would move down to a 24 or 23 for the 660' depending on what boost levels you are running..
Good luck.

question for you guys? i have an 06 vector with mcx turbo running 10 -11 ibs of boost. 8 tooth drivers and 24/38 gears 136 cobra track and 216 picks. im not putting out near the HP you guys are . am i over geared? i still have stock 22 top. Will i gain or loose acceleration to 100+. mostly trail ride and very rarely get to use the sleds top end.

im running max boost for a stage 1 with 26/22 pulley combo. i'm going to say it's around 11lbs? i geared down to 23t, raised my rpm's to 5000 and made the track zinging tight. if the track holds and i don't jump my driver it'll hook hard and come out of the hole pretty good.
i'll let you guys know how i made out. thx for the input.

i got back at 2am last night. i got 1st place in ice drags four stroke and 2nd place in "king of the ice". the only sleds that were in "king of the ice" were l/d dragster 700, 800, 1000 pro mods and mine. i'm happy with how it worked, but there's room for improvement(spun on the finals of king of the ice and couldn't real him in, that's racing). i had a great time and i'd like to thank all the guys that put on the event. my buddy with the cat won the "king of the trail" side as well(congradulations kenny).
if you wanna have a good time at a race schedule "sharbot lake drag races" on your calender next yr.

i'd like to thank everyone for their advice. i ran the 23t gear and when the ice was good in the morning did the sled take off like a rocket. i had the rpm's coming in at 5000k and the suspension chained. i was leaning on the gas tank and it still lifted the skiis 2ft and carried them for 100-200', no spin. by the end of the day the ice was cut up pretty back, they allow them to run chisels and i run ice picks.
good times and thanks again.

they said their batteries were dead on their radar gun and winner advances only. when the cops came they had me on radar at 189kph when i got past the 1000 to advance to the finals.
