Went riding with undecided last week up in mercer area. Well I put my sled on the lift yesterday to give it the once over and my right lower A-arm in bent up, right by the sway bar mount. On the lower side of the A-arm, paint is flacked away too!!!!!!!!!!
Jim, the only place this may have happened is on that damn big bump we hit. I hit front heavy as i did not know it was there!!!!!!!!! I have never bent anything except suspension on a sled before, but I used to ride alot harder. Old age?LOL Going to Yamaha this morning to see if warranty will cover this, and finally get my new bars. No coldd hands? I'll love that. Also my suspension won't take grease. I know the zirts suck!!! Anyone else experience the A-arms bending? or just me?

Thanks crazy1cars

I dropped off my sled at the Yami dealer this morning. mechanic said yami will cover A-arm. i hope he is right. Also, they are pulling my skid and fixing zirts and new bars!!!!!!!!!! All seams good so far. if not? I'll bitch when i pick it up. but my dealer seems cool.

No offense, but that #$%&* #$%&* #$%&* me off. Yamaha left me on the hook for some $1100 in repairs for the same thing as you describe. :die I'm glad they're looking after you though. Note Avatar...no red a-arms. Told them to #$%&* and :die and bought after market for 1/3 the cost. Which also bent, by the way :o|

A-arm

Thats what the mechanic stated!! Now I will call them monday and see if this is a fact!!! Cause if it isn't covered? I will be making a switch in brands for sure. last sled was a warranty queen with No dealer or manufacturer help, thats why I switch to yamaha, because I WAS TOLD OF THE GREAT SUPPORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Man I hope so, spending a $1000.00 on a new sled to keep running is BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After reading the issue with bent a arms ,I'm wondering if Yamaha did intensionally under build them a little so if you hit something hard you don't bust out the bulkhead. Last year i had to weld up a friends rx 1 bulk head after he was hit in the ski by an oncoming sled. His arm bent a little ,but the angle he was hit at was at 45 degrees,so the force was transfered into the bulkhead and it cracked it,so if nobody is breaking bulkheads this is'nt such a bad thing, unless it's happening without hitting anything.
Here's one, i have a couple of freinds with revs, and both of them bent thier bulkheads when one of thier carbides cought crossing railroad tracks .The arms didn't give, and it made a mess and they where only going maybe 15 mph.

Not trying to be a dink here but, why would you think a manufacturer should cover what may well be collision damage?

I hit a pothole, ruin tire and rim and mess up the alignment. I did not blame Goodyear or the automaker.

A good friend hits a washout at 20 mph on a normally groomed trail and stops dead. Trailing arm damage, bulkhead damage etc. Warranty claim, I don't think so.

I touched a pole in a parking lot and slightly bent the fender. I did not consider going after Nissan for it.

Two buddies on a ride get caught up on a railroad track, both bend trailing arms and foot rest area. One Yammie and one Doo. They did not go after warranty, should they have?

Buddie on a Doo bends a shaft hitting someting hard. $1,200 damage. Insurance company pays up, he does not consider it a Warranty issue.

That being said, I have seen my dealer go to the wall for me and others in the past and cover things that they did not need to With Yammie Canada's full co-operation.

So, I hope it goes well for you tomorrow and if they do cover you that is great. Not sure you have good reason to be upset if they don't.

I've owned sleds for 30 years. that said, I have never bent a A-arm in my life, other than a few totals. My fault!!!!I did not abuse my RTX, therefore it should be a warranty issue. 07's are stronger, why? because they are weak on the 06 is my guess. Bottom line? If a manufacturer expects loyalty it works both ways! Just my opinion.

I had a Apex Gt last year and I bent my a-arms also . I caught a tree root on my doolly runners at about 15mph . It pulled the sled to one side when I caught it but I could not believe it bent both arms on the right side .

If something gets hit, something has to give. I also had a bent a-arm on my 03 RX-1 after a friend hit a culvert with it. After doing the $1100 repair, I’m glad I didn’t have to replace the bulkhead since the long bolts going through the bulk head were also bent. Keep in mind if you strengthen one component, you weaken another.
Regardless, it sucks bending an a-arm, but I don’t think stronger A-arms are the answer. I’ve logged many thousands of hard miles on the RX-1 and Apex with no issues. Knock on wood that I don't hit something solid.
Just my .2c

Of course you're on the hook for repairs if you hit a culvert. :drink: I haven't hit anything (not counting that deer before Christmas) :o| . But not a ride goes by where I don't get out of shape at some point and land nose-heavy or in a depression. I just expected my Attak to be built to hold up...apparently not, and I'm OK with that now. I just wish I wasn't told this is a rough trail sled that can take a beating. The quest continues.
