Adjusting this does what?

That might be all it needs, I will bring it up with the shock guy tomorrow. Thanks

Let us know... :jump:

Just got back from m&s auto body. The guy to a look at my shock and said wow, this is really stiff. No wonder u have no sag. He is taking it apart to do a revalve. I will let you guys know what he did. It should be ready tonight if he has the right shims.

you guys are making me nervous. im wanting to get a 15 rtxse , i am coming off an 09 apex rtx that doesn't handle any bump all that well let alone 3' moguls. i describe my apex as lumber wagon. please tell me the viper rtxse isn't going to be the same!!

I have rtx with fox air in front. Yes it is stiff but like yama tim says. thats what its made for. Have noticed mine lossened up quite a bit. 982 miles. Runs better and rides better everytime I get it out.

I put softer torsions in my ltx se. Put them on around 1200 miles. I weigh 230+ and had 1/2" of sag when I got on the sled..it rode like a lumber wagon. That was with torsion springs on soft and front shock loosened all the way up. Now with softer springs I have a full 2 inches of sag and I have been playing with the front skid shock and have been gradually going tighter with it and it rides totally different than before! It's very smooth in the small bumps..you can still feel the bumps but you can actually feel the suspension soaking them up and then on the big bumps it's still as fun as ever. Still on softest setting on torsion springs and the sled will just bottom out on hard hits..I've always been told that is exactly how it should be, that way you are using the full amount of shock travel. My viper now rides just as smooth as my friends base model ltx but still has all the big bump capabilities as before. Softer torsion springs is certainly a great starting point. Another thing to keep in mind on the se models is that (this is just my totally honest opinion) these front fox floats suck! Not really any happy medium with them and the air pressure constantly is changing in them. I have a set of used fox zero pro shocks coming that I am going to be sending out to get valved properly and have dual rate springs put in them. Sure I could have got evol shocks or some aftermarket clicker type shocks but I'm not that big into tweaking and tuning with suspensions all day so a properly setup coil over shock is going to be perfect for me..as for price..counting what I paid for the shocks, I am going to have roughly $450 into basically a brand new set of front dual rate shocks setup for my weight and riding style. Just hoping I can sell my floats and get around that same price back out of them. The biggest reason the base model vipers feel so much nicer in my opinion is because the coil overs help the performance of the entire sled. With the floats, if you enter a bump wrong it is going to feel horrible throughout the entire chassis. A perfectly setup rear suspension will never work if the front shocks are to doing there job. You could valve the floats properly to make an improvement but at the end of the day it's still an air shock that is not consistent.

There are some rtx guys in here saying their sleds are stiff but I actually got the chance to ride one last week. Rtx se with around 500 miles and suspension was completely stock. Compared to my ltx se in stock form the rtx ride like a Cadillac. It was very plush and smooth on all types of bumps from 6" up to 2'. After switching to softer springs and doing a lot of adjusting my ltx se now feels how the rtx se did in stock out of the box form.

This the reason I got the base model. I knew I wouldnt like the fox floats. It is still way to stiff. Hopefully the revalve will do it for me.

Got my shock put back on. I know have about 1 inch of sag at the bumper and I can compress the suspension alot easier. The guy moved some shimes and took out 2. He made it into a 2 stage easy at the top and harder at the bottom. I would like alittle moe sag but I will give it a try this weekend and see how it goes. Heading back to canada.

Back from canada, the sled is alot better. Takes the small bumps better and no bottoming on the large ones. I think it could be a touch softer. I am going to give Shawn a call as he wanted to know how it went and see what he thinks. I also did the belt change to a 8dn with a 1mm shim. No slipping the engagement seams smoother. The backshift is less but I lost alittle topend. I was getting 92 now the best I could get is 90 at 8790 rpm. I will check to see if I am getting full shift out next weekend.
