I am having a hard time finding good info on both these shocks. I really want to try the Ryde FX Air 2.0 off a Poo trail sled (part 10002) on my MTX but dont want to do any damage to my sled. I know they are a longer shock but I have seen that work before.

Can anyone with shock experience give me your take on this. The shocks were given to me so the cost savings are huge vs. going out and buying floats. I have to do some thing. At 250 lbs. my stock setup is not working out.

maybe heavier steering and or wear at the back of your rails. how long is the shock stroke total ...?

Not sure. I think fully extended 18" collapsed 11.8" still not sure if these numbers are correct.

I ran longer shocks on my IQ racer with no problems. I'm running M-series floats on my MTX now.

Should I be worried about the extra weight in the front end causing problems?

I wouldn't be. Start the pressure out high and work your way down from there. If you want to send them to me i'll test them for ya :)

HAHAHA. If your that confident, I'll give them a go. Thanks for the advice.

Please keep the info coming. I'd like to learn a little about shock comparisons and all options that will work on our sleds.

I'd be worried about too short...I don't think an inch longer would hurt you, but shorter might possible hurt you. Just think, if you a-arm is sitting up 1 inch higher because of shorter shock (eye to eye) then bottoming out the shock could potentially cause the a-arm to go beyond the intended travel.

I could be off, but I'm pretty sure I've read that shorter is a no no. You could always mod the AIR 2.0's by cutting the eye and welding in a piece in if need be.

The 2.0's are definitely a different length than the MTX shocks otherwise they would be listen as a fit on the AIR 2.0 site.

The stockers are shorter than 18" aren't they.

Best thing to do would be to take one off and measure it fully extended, eye to eye. Then see if one of the 2.0 models is the same length. They list a few different part numbers, but of course nothing for the Yamaha.

I like your idea. I wasn't sold on that 2.0 shock, but I've heard good things. It's funny...There is so much information on the RydeFX site...Everything but the shock lengths.

I've seen lots of sites that give you the shock lengths of different shocks, but haven't seen one for the MTX front shock yet. If I find it, I'll post it up.
