Was it the GT or the ER model ? My local dealer has an ER for $8000 and the GT for $9000, thinking of going with the ER and just adding cliker shocks on the front and beefing up the rear spring. I'm hoping Yamaha comes out with some promotions and incentives in the fall and the dealer will want even less then. I know of another dealer that has an 2010 but that is almost $12,000. Haven't heard of to many issues with the 09's.

Oh yea, I suspect big problems for your friend.......
The biggest problem with the Apex, basically covering years 2006 - 2010, and I doubt they changed it for 2011 is they are so freakin' fun to drive your friend will probably never want to stop riding. It will cause big family problems also for him when his wife, fiance, significant other starts accusing him of "loving that god damned snowmobile more then (her)"........
