i have a 08 rtx and this is the second time ive lost a lower front torque arm bolt. i just got a new rail. less then 70 miles on it after it got it back and another bolt. opposite side gone. any one else having this problem?

what is lockwire ive heard of it but never seen it. im gonna b!#(h out the dealer tomrow cause im guessing they didnt use any locktight either. they tryed telling me last time that they werent goin to cover it cause it was a maintance issue and i should have checked the bolts befor i went for a ride but did cover it cause the low milage. well guess what i did this time and within 70 miles it fill out. what am i suspose to do stop and check all my skid bolts every 10 miles when the skid is a block of ice from the pipe melting snow onto it?

Had the updated link and arm installed at the dealer. My left side bolt came out. Threads were gone in the shaft so I just duct taped another one in so there was something there to pivot on to get back to camp. When I get home and unload i noticed the other side was gone too! Dealer says they aren't supposed to loctite and that they put a shim in wrong or something. Not sure what the deal is....

On the 07 suspension there was a washer behind the rail next to arm.None in back of the bolt head.On the 08 suspension which has steel bushings the washer goes on the outside of the rail.It is a easy mistake to make.Not sure how it would make bolt come loose but Loctite is definitly needed on those bolts.To do it right you would have to pull the shaft out and clean it since grease will for sure be in the hole.

well its goin back to the dealer and im demanding another new rail seeing how the other side is now buf enough for a 12 mm bolt insted of a 10 mm

dealer is trying to tell me last time it was fixed itwas an ack of good will because it should have been a mainanace issue and prolly wont be covered this time. i went on one ride bolts were tight at the biging of the ride and gome at the end WTF. the must not have locktighted them because i have striped out stuff and used premate locktight ans its never come lose. im on hold with yamaha cutomer service lets see how long this takes.

If you had 08 update it should have looked like this:

ronnies cycle wont even let me drop the sled off. they took pics and said they will get back to me. i dont know about them but when we work on a sled at my work and even if its 10 years old and we fix somthing and it does the same thing after one ride. my boss usaly swalows the parts and labor to get it fixed right so it doesnt happen again. my guess is that yamaha told them they have to cover it cause they had just fixed it and it did the same thing so its there fault for not doin it right. and they are trying to screw me cause they dont wanna pay for a new rail. well i have yamaha customer service on speed dial so well see.

Lock wire is when you drill a hole straight through the head of the bolt and lock a high tensile wire through the bolt and loop it through the skid.

Hey Cannondale

Hey Cannondale;

Do you have instructions that came with your rear link update kit? I just recieved my kit (no instructions in box) and I figured "no problem" but your mention of this washer changing positions and the subsequent damage to your rail has me thinking, better follow the instructions...

Unless this is the only change there is, I can fake it.
