I am in the process of at least checking my shocks before the season starts. I cannot find specs anywhere for Apex monoshock suspensions. My dealer hasn't been to the Yamaha "Shock school". Therefore, they do not and cannot get specs.
Anyhow, I am interested if anyone has nitrogen pressures, oil quantity for 2006 Apex RTX and Apex GT?
I am concerned because I think that my nitrigen pressure may be way low. I have heard from a friend that said his dealer told him that his whole shipment of Apex's last year came with nitrogen pressure way below spec.
I know...the story is third hand and probably untrue....but, I still would like to check mine for peace of mind if nothing else.

Try Bruce Schrader at Pioneer Performance. He is probably the most knowledgable guy around on Yammi shocks.

I'll contact Bruce if I have to. I can't believe that no one on this board knows the answer to this question

Dude....if your dealer doesn't know then why would you think someone here would....
Most guys just get their shocks rebuilt by someone who does it for a living. Bruce revalved and re-oiled my MONO for $46. Well worth the money IMHO.

No doubt that the $46 is very fair and i'm sure the service is excellant. Problem is, I just want to check the pressure.
I don't need a rebuild yet. If i knew the correct nitrogen pressure, I could just check it and charge it properly if necessary.
Yamaha will not give their dealers the specs unless they go to the week long training. Sounds pretty ridiculous to send away for this long training program. If the dealer has been rebuilding other OEM shocks for 20 years why should they have to participate in this training that teaches them very little. The Yamaha shocks are not exactly the most complicated shocks to work on. And, they are not that much different than other manufacturers use.
As a business owner myself, I wouldn't send a guy away for a one week training program that costs me a lot of time and money...especially if I'm only going to do about $1000 per year in Yamaha shock rebuilds. I'd never get my money back that the training costs.
P.S.

I hear ya....that's why I suggested Bruce. He IS THE YAMAHA shock rebuild center. He'd be the guy who can give you those specs and why wouldn't he if he knows that if your shocks are down on pressure then he gets more business.
I'd give him a call and ask.....
PS.....I WISH I
.........not YET!
