Is anyone using these old-type rearwheels. They are 179mm in diameter.
Any pros and cons? Does anyone know why Yammi dosesn't use them anymore? Durability?

Since it's impossible to change bearing on the original wheels and I'm not so keen on buying new set wheels every season. And I'm getting 3 oldstyle wheels for the price of one original.

my bud black john has them on his sled. they are .5in larger than stock. no problems running these, they probably reduce rolling resistance being slightly larger. if the price is right, use them.

There exists 2 different sizes of those wheels, one is 179mm and the other one is 190mm in diameter. Perhaps he's gotten the bigger ones.

Those wheels were pretty good. One downside is that ice tends to cling to the metal wheels and not so much to the plastic ones. So under certain conditions they look like rotating ice balls.

Make sure to check bearing width. If they are wider you will need to modify the spacer bushings

I have 4 of the Large plastic wheels from 02 that are like NEW, they DO have changable bearings. All 4 for 50.00 plus shipping. ===SRXSRULE===

That sounded great. I guess that the diameter is 179mm or 7"?
But I wonder what the shipment to Sweden costs. I know that UPS takes about $130 to ship an ECP-kit to me. :(
I don't know what US Mail would cost, PM me if you know and if you would do it.

Use Fedex, label it "gift package" and it will cost you about $70.

+ custom + tax. :(
Then I pass since I can get 4 new ones from my local dealer for about $95

I think if you label it "gift package" you can get by the customs & tax? I'm not sure though.

Whatever you do do not tell them its a yamaha part tell them its a ski-doo part as japanese manufactures have a larger tariff. ski-doo=country of origin = canada.

I've got the 7" on mine. They work find and look real, not like those plastic wheels. They are NOT heavy, no heavier than the plastic wheels. Available in two sizes; 7" and 7.5". For ordering purposes, '82 Enticer had 7.5", '87 Exciter had 7".

I changed mine to the rear wheels that the srx's use for the same reason. You can by wheel and bearing separate.

Great input from you all. Thanks!!

I shall buy 2 of those, looks nicer, polishable or easy to paint in different colors and the most important thing, changeable bearings.

I wonder in what &%¤¤#¤#&# #*$&@ that japanese guy had his head in when he came up with the bright idea to seal the bearings on the outer rear wheels. Those bearings have to be changed every season, especially when you can't re-grease them. :o| :o|
I guess it's the same guy who put the oil filter where it is and then used the biggest screwdriver he could find to fasten the float bowls. My bet is that he also designed the W-arm... :o|
