Anyone with Evo flash still get kickbacks?

Mine has not been perfect, but it's been VERY good with the 2.5 flash. I do not recall any kickbacks, and maybe a 2 attempt start here and there, but I have conditioned myself to holding the key on longer until I am certain that it is running.

Yes he advertised 14 or 15 based flashes. We know 14's had kickbacks also. A real number of flashes sold is important since we know many of us never had a kickback with either Yamaha flash. % is not accurate enough if we don't know how many Evo flashed. We are all busy. It's a simple question.

I haven't heard of any 14's kicking back, unless operator error.... Hot starts, yes...but no kick backs till the updated flash.

It may be a simple question....but I can't squeeze blood from a turnip and if I had those numbers, I would post them. We are all busy and I am doing everything I can.

I will find out....

Jim, along with everyone at EVP have been super busy. I will find more out soon.

I'm going off a whim here as my ECU was the baseline for the EVO flashes which was a 2014 based flash... When the flashes were made, I had my 2014, 2015 re-flash and 2016 ECU's there to find out what Yamaha/Cat changed. We knew the kick-backs did not come from the 2014, so that was the baseline of the flashes.
My guess would be 95% of the flashes were based off of the 2014. Was there a 2015 based flash? Could have been....but very small number

When mine was reflashed i had the option of 14 flash or 15 flash.
Being aware of the kickback issues, i went with 14 flash

It might not be that simple to answer your question if the info is not right at his hands.
If i remember correctly jim flashes them at EVO.
Someone else flashes them in canada for jim
And i am not sure on this but i thought i read somewhere that ulmer has the ability to flash them for EVO?
Is there an international dealer that flashes them for international customers??

On a side note.
I spoke with evo recently and was informed that the new flash from yamaha will overwrite the evo flash.
EVO will charge 150 bucks to re flash if that should happen.

There are more the a dozen places that can do the flashes.

I had no idea there was that many, but i had a feeling it was going to take a little more info to get the answers cannondale was looking for.

I posting this here because I think it's relevant. I sold my viper and purchased a sidewinder. That being said. The person that purchased my viper didn't want a turbo so it was removed and sled was put back to stock with an exhaust can only. The ecu was reflashed with the new flash from Yamaha. After it being out for a few rides, all I can say is it's the best flash I've seen for the viper since it came out. Starts first try every time so far. No kickbacks. Speedo is right on. No hot starts yet. Doesn't hunt at idle once warm. Hunts a little when cold. Overall pretty happy so far. FYI my brother has the sled now. So far so good.

We have discussed this before and not going to do it again. Do a search. Lots of 14's have had starter gear failure with 14 flash. Studroes is one of them. This is why its important the facts are clear. If starter and gear failure happened and you claim the 14's flash doesn't kickback then the gear and starter failure has nothing to do with kickbacks. If that's the case there is no need for a flash of any kind Evo or Yamaha. I don't believe that is the case but you cant have it both ways.

A lot of them were operator error also, so you need to factor that in....... along with low voltage, bad fuel, low grade fuel against premium fuel, airbox mods, exhaust mods, power-commander and turbo setups.

I did the testing and reported my findings on all the flashes I had done on my sled along with working with Jim at EVO to get the best performance flashes out there. But take this information for what it's worth and buy the flash from EVO, run what you have currently or get the updated flash from Yamaha. This is my last post on this subject as everybody is chasing a never ending road here trying to figure out what happened.

How many flashes are out there now from Yamaha? A bunch! How many from EVO and the people they have doing it for them? A lot!

That is why I said "I" haven't heard of any stock 14's with the original flash taking out starters. The ones I know about had turbos installed or other mods done. Studroes included in this.

This ECU in Shagman's brothers sled is the one I had in my sled and it did not start the same as it does now. Took 2 times to start and hunted bad at idle. This goes to show you that what works on one sled may not work on another.

Glad Shagman's brother's sled is running good

I hear you. I don't believe Studroes had turbo when his failed but your point about the new flash running great in Shagman's sled and not in yours pretty much explains it all. Too many inconsistencies and patches to fix a crappy system that should be done right to begin with. Thanks For trying Terry.
