Just wondering if anyone knows why the ski styles have changed from 2006 to 2011. I have a 2006 Apex with original skis and a set of 2011 Apex skis. Just wondering if anyone has ever see a difference between these two.
Thanks

The power steering sleds got the different style single keel ski. Physically they can be interchanged. I believe the eps skis actually have a shorter keel.

I think you would need new ski rubbers as they are quite different. The ski saddle has a lower mounting hole and the ski rubber is quite thin on the 2011s.

The ski rubbers are different but they are specific to the spindle rather than the ski. This allows for the skis to be interchanged.

2011 has a different carbide position then the 2010. Bolt hole to mount the ski has been moved backwards in relation to the carbide. Most recommend the 2010 over the 2011 2012 ski!

nope, they changed it on the 2011 apex xtx. they moved the mount point back further so that the tips would come up more naturally from weight placement. we put the stock skis from my 11 xtx on an o2 viper and was able to remove the ski shim mod on that sled.

they also changed them in 2012 it was one of the few changes from 2011 to 2012 thats why when you go to buy snow trackers you have to get the right ones for a 2012.

2011 was asked about but 2010 2011 and 2012 skis all have different mounting points in relation to the carbide. 2012 is in the middle between 2010 and 2011. Again general consensus is the 2010 is the better choice.

Some good info in this thread. I never compared 11-12 that closely. Will have a look when I get back to shop.
Are 10 skis different than 06-09?

I belive the mounting point of the ski to the spindle is what changed in 2012 people were complaining that the agressive snow trackers were too agressive and causing crashes so they redisigned them for 2012 and newer. they all still have same bolt pattern for carbides but where on the ski they fall is whats different.

2006 to 2010 has the same mounting point to carbide placement. Difference is keel height I think. RX1 used a mid height keel. I know my 2005 Warrior had a deep keel ski that was very aggressive. 2006 Apex used the same ski if I remember right.
There are also many differences in the shape of the front of the ski keel in the 2011 2012.
