I didn't find much on this subject, so I figured this would help someone. As I was trying to remove the 36mm top gear nut, I put too much pressure on the chain tensioner stud and it snapped off. This is what I did to repair it instead of buying a new rear half chaincase cover.

I have about 6 pics, but can't seem to upload them as jpeg as the files are too large. this would really make more sense if you could see the pics.

What I purchased:
M8x1.25 socket cap screw
M8x1.25 stainlesss lock nut
9/16 x 5/16 x 1/8 o-ring
8mm-1.25 tap

Cut the top of broken stud off so it's the same diameter as the screw/ bolt head.
Drill out the center of the broken stud so the bolt will slide through.
Use a tap and cut threads on the back of the chaincase. I did not have to pre-drill a hole as there was already one at the spot it had broken off at.
Use a Dremel and trim the back off so you can run a lock nut on the back of the bolt.
Use an o-ring so chaincase oil wont leak out.
Tighten it all up and put chaincase back together!
