I just got back from seeing the new sleds in Minneapolis. Had a chance to see the new APEX models these things look great in person especially from the front view. I talked with a local dealer Larson motors the new APex ER is $9,999 msrp the old RX-1ER was $9,399 so the price difference is only $600 and you get 8 more horsepower, 11 lbs lighter, EFI, new seat with stroage box, new front a-arms, taller bars, and a much better riding position. The rider forward is still very comfortable but according to those that rode it gives much better handling and bump control. This is really a sweet sled they did not have a base APEX ER but I think that is the model I'll get (blue) The dealer saide there is $800 in free accessories but he could not quote prices at the show.

In the end this is a great package for $600 dollars. The Apex GT is very cool but the ER has everything I need.

Yamaha is getting hammered by the exchange rate  I think they have done a good job keeping the price under 10k ;)! ;)!

Larson's may quote you a competitive price...but when you go to sign they'll want you to sign over your $800 in accessories to them... :?

Thanks for the info stormbringer. I'm not from that area and won't buy in Minneapolis. Larsons had a sales guy with a new sales training book with a lot of info he seemed to have more info than some of the other dealers.

It was a cool show they had seminar on all of the changes plus dealers and like 40 Yamaha people there. The place was packed.

I'd like to know if it would be worth it for Yamaha to have a plant here. But then again, its not like they are building cars that sell a lot more than recreational vehicles.

Kevin,

It's downright scary the amount of $$$$ it costs to build a production facility, especially in the northern part of the country. Then you have to consider the logistics of getting production parts to the facility,

I could go on and on...........If you didn't know, I spent almost 20 yrs. with Honda of America Mfg and was on a couple of the plant devlopment teams for some of our seven (7) production facilities in the US.
