Apex GT, Limited supply

Generally speaking does not work in today's economy, the fact is my RX1 in the fall would really hit bottom in value plus the lack of snow will drive used sleds even lower in the fall. If you want to be an internet buyer and run all over hells half acre to save $100 so be it. I might pay more but I really don't care as long as I get what I want and service. I crack up at all these posts on prices and trade in values. You should know your sleds value and the cost of the new one. Who cares if someone might save $200 in the fall by running around. I KNOW I will be riding the GT when the snow flies and that is all that matters. By the way any time you want to compare academic achievements just email me.

So...in another words, Jim....you have rationalized the fact that you take the prong in terms of price...to have boasting rights to being the first on the block to have one. :D That's great. It's your money. However...that is *all* you are buying with the extra cake you are putting out for the sled because, as I and others have pointed out, availability is only an issue they *want* to have you believe exists....

...and yes...I'd be happy to get into a pissing match with you relative to Marketing education and professional achievement if more punishment is what you desire. ;)!

Other than 04 the LE models were ugly and offered little other than some plastic trim pieces over the E/R, such is finally not the case this year with shock/spring packages and visual differences other than a cheap piece of plastic over the "A" frame. Plus how do you know before the middle of January if you are going to get snow sticking around. We had over 3' on the ground mid December than garbage until last week. It's a crap shoot whenever you buy.

Well I kicked myself for waiting...2 weeks after buying mine, a salesperson for a Cat dealer in Vermont decided she didn't have the $$$ to finish buying her spring-ordered RX-1 (Cat salesparson buying an RX...I loved that). I could have saved over $1200 off what I paid if I finished buying hers, and she had paid almost $1000 over what I did by buying in the spring. I think saving $1000 is worth waiting until December, especially since you won't see your sled until then anyway. And by shopping around even in the fall, I found $600+ difference in prices, just within a couple hour's drive of where I lived. I actually paid about $300 more for mine than I oculd have bought elsewhere for (plus I would have had free luggage, registration, etc.) but I went with my local dealer.

Marketing .............. it's working......... listen to us debate 'when' to but their product not 'if'' to buy!
I don't care I want an- ATTAK OH NO MAYBE AN APEX GT............... NOW
Yamadoo

I paid $1300 under retail and kept the Yamaha cash for my snow-checked '04 Warrior. Not from the local guy though, he was bargaining away maybe $300 off list...

Happy enough with the Warrior that I'm prepared to wait for a killer deal on an 06 or 07 Attak. Warrior has another 30 or 40K reliable miles in it, IMHO.

Still don't know why Yamaha won't let Spring buyers specify options like the electronic Ohlins to save junking the stocker, like I had to do with the Warrior front shocks.

I don'y give a crap about what I pay and really not interested about the first on block isue, I am far beyond that. If I want something i buy it plain and simple.

Well there ya have it! Why didn't you just say that to begin with? :D I like buyers like you almost as much as Yamaha does...you help shore up their profitablility goals and leave more room there for the rest of us to negotiate with... ;)!

When and where is that ride. Spoke to my dealer yesterday and he is ticked that there is not one in Ontario (according to him). He claims the Toronto show is the only one in Ontario. He has a GT for me if I want one but I would like to see the sled and better yet ride the unit before placing money down.

Hey Dooogggg.....

See... http://www.rx1.info/viewtopic.php?t=11547

Oh and PS......I better be able to order a 2006 GT....I am holding off on an 05 purchase until I ride the 06's..! The spring snow check ends in April. What's the purpose of a "Snow Check" if I can't get what I want? It's all about the dealer...! If I can't get what I want in Canada...I live 30 mins from NY....no problem.

Green 9 of us have ordered new Apex GT's. Seven from one small dealer and we all got confirmation on our orders.

Glad to hear you will be one of the boys.

Green, you are pretty much right... the GT has special components, the Ohlins shock plus the electronics (chip , switch and guage) if any one of the suppliers has limitations then it makes sense that the overall build will be limited. IF there is a fixed number of the units availble from the factory then the distributors are going to have to make a forecast then start taking orders by deposit. If the build number is close to the anticipated order result then the distributor would be wise to allocate the number of units to the dealers, as would be bad to take soemones deposit and not deliver the unit. You can bet that as the program nears the end there may well be some 'corrections' made to the allocations and dealers may be more apt to make a better deal if the results ain't so great. There will always be cancellations come fall and chances are some dealers may put some fake deposits down to secure a GT or two for stock. There you have it, there is some gamble to wait and with a small company like Ohlins involved with a non-mass produced component, I'm thinking you made the right choice. Marketing 101 or not, i figure this is all about a rear shock, not a paint job.
